ZIDOO 8K Media player coming soon.

I wonder if this New chipset sorts out my dull look playing back 4K Movies on my agent old KURO 1080p / 60 professional Monitor thats coming on to 15 years old .

 

Don't envy you the task of removing that off the wall if you decide to upgrade!! I had the very first Pioneer 50" 1080p plasma when they came out back in the day and I still remember how many of us it took to fix it to the wall... and how many rawl bolts!

 

i purchased the very first 434 Hde Model with the worlds first Hdmi port !
Was very Expensive back in the day
and installed many Plasma on to the wall back in the day……..
These Plasma are very very well built and do last and still have a few still working Built like Tanks and weigh the same

 

Things were build different in those days. Have a Philips Matchline LCD TV 37pfl9732d used daily almost constantly stemming from 2008. Even the picture is still very nice today. Yes that one has HDMI too but also 2x SCART.

Yes on my Dune Pro One 8K it clearly plays in hardware but badly. Sometimes it can play quite a while correctly but most of the time it plays just a little then show 1 frame frozen and sometimes it can unfreeze later, etc.

 

So the plug\power supply I have with my Z9X Pro will work with the Z9X 8K?

With the z30 internal drive
Do i format the 4tb internal to ntfs and add the files( going to be all my different music files ie sacd mch flac ) and then install it ,or install and zidoo will format and then smb the files over ?

ie ive ordered a 4tb and was going to use a docking station to have it all set up in next couple weeks ,so all ready to go

Reason im asking is on the Pro series threads id noticed ppl with the internal docks having issues with not seeing stuff on their drives once installed
So want to get order all correct so not wasting time

I used mcblunas comparison thread for the 8k devices which sadly incorrectly shows the Z30 as having 2 hdmi ie a second audio out for mch sacd etc ,and since the pics for z30 wernt out yet ,i went and ordered it ,to later find out it only has the 1 HDMI but at almost $700 nzd i wasnt going to cancel and stepup to the 3000

 

Most of the time it's terrible like that yeah. It varies even on the same file. All this makes it unclear if it's supported or not by s928x or if Dune just didn't test this out. We'll see what Zidoo says.

 

Hi Mark, do you know how HDR is treated on the audio HDMI port? I have a lighting controller that doesn't cope with Dolby vision. If output can be set to SDR for the HDMI audio port independently of the HDMI main output, then this would potentially simplify my karaoke setup. Cheers, Dave.

 

Everything plays well on the zidoo 5000 and dune solo 4k.

 

But as far as I know, all 3D BluRays are in MVC format!?
I have over 250 3D-Blurays in my collection that can no longer be played with the 8k-Zidoos!?

Dropping 3D support is the worst thing that could have happened! Because now I´m stuck with the old Z9XPro and I can never buy a new one

 

Tested the same file here on the Dune, and it gave 1 second of running image, then it freezzed, and the audio went on.

I'm not sure why this file is a reference, since i never seen that format in *any* .mkv here, but maybe i'm missing something
Since H264 is for 1080 HD, and H265 is for anything above. And 59.xxx dropframe is a very obscure format on the internets.

BTW, since you apperantly have acces to pre-production samples, what exactly is your ( financially ) connection to Zidoo?

 

Maybe it's time to give current display technologies a chance?

 

Ha find me a Monitor thats Oled cheaper than £10,000 as thats what they go for.
Besides my KURO wont break down.

Unfortunately and as Mark already explained, it's a SoC limitation. I understand your frustration about this, but I also think the decision to go with a more powerful and up to date SoC was overall the best choice (the same other brands took).
