I am using an UHD3000 myself in my home in Bolivia. Enjoy it a lot. No I don't expect PQ to be a lot better. But multiple features will be nicer/better, it will be more fluent, better library services, BD menu will be much better (be sure I will push them here to get it perfect) and Music Player/Streamer is in a different league. If only SQ and PQ playing movies are your concerns and using UAPP for music then there is no need for an upgrade.

Yes, if I had my time back, I'd have probably got a UHD3000. My Z1000 Pro though hasn't put a foot wrong and my DAC-Z8 is exceptional. But I'm told the new players will give better PQ than the two series before them and the DAC in the UHD8000 will provide me with better Film sound. I have a new home for my Z1000 Pro when the UHD8000 arrives too

It is all about the Android OS version not the HW. Have a Google Homatics box using such an Amlogic processor and it is certified by Google Android TV plus all big Streaming Video providers.
The rule with Android TV and Smart Phone Android is that core modifications are NOT allowed but are unavoidable to get media players to work.

You're wrong, you won't notice any difference at an audio level, if you think this you're very wrong! The UHD8000 carries the signal via hdmi to an av receiver and I doubt there is any difference with the UHD3000, we are just talking about transport. Maybe, just maybe, you'll notice some improvements on the video level but let's talk about nuances. Don't expect miracles from both an audio and video point of view.

I have no doubt that it will be cooler, more fluid, faster, more beautiful and all that stuff... I'm interested in pure video and audio quality and if, as rumored, there isn't all this leap in quality with the UHD8000 but only nuances, I don't see the reason to replace the UHD3000 which works very well and spend more than 1000 euros to have more or less qualitatively the same thing. I repeat, the UHD3000 doesn't give me any problems and is also quite fluid and fast. I reduced the animation scale from 1x to 0.5x via the developer options and it sped up quite a bit.

    @Markswift2003 ,

Here's a 4k 59.94fps H264 high@5.2 sample, can you please see if it plays perfectly on the Z9X 8K or not?

Here's a VP9 version that should play perfectly:

    Thanks!

How are the basic playback capabilities of the new device? Can it pause/resume without audio pauses? Can it fast forward/rewind?

I still use a Popcorn Hour A-500 as my player for all non-4k content because it just works. Maybe this is due to the Sigma Designs chip/SDK, but I haven't found anything that works as well as it yet.

My Z9X is almost there.... I can pause and resume without any audio delay, but it will drop video frames as part of the resume, and fast forward/rewind doesn't work. (Who needs fast forward? Somebody trying to see if there are extra scenes in movies during the end credits).

Will this new device finally allow me to retire my A-500?

    Thanks!

    Tim

Just to be pedantic w/c 22nd July is the week after next!

However I did enquire directly to Futeko and they said:

"No guarantees, but Zidoo have told us that they may ship to us next week. This makes late next week or week beginning 22-JUL possible for despatch"

I like that everyone is so excited about this new players. But those like me which already had a lot of media players in the past will remember - everytime a new player comes up everyone was excited and bought them immediately and really always, Zidoo or every other brand, promises a lot and at the end all the time something doesn´t work and you stick with a beta firmware... like me with my Zidoo 1000 Pro. A nice device, the best media player I have until now. But with alot of restriction like a really lousy musicplayer. But I am out now buying all the time a new device which has so much limitations. And with this announced players it will be the same as always.

Oh, I hadn't noticed this detail on the back of the UHD8000 :
The choice of female XLR outputs, where 99% of sources have always used male XLR !

I am very curious to know the technical reasons for this strange, and extremely rare, choice ?!
This will require the use of non-standard male-male XLR cables, and therefore custom-made,
or the stupid use of an adapter !

Is it possible that this is an error ?
