What relevance does a NAS have to my question?

cause I find it hilarious when people talk about large capacity drives and don't even use a NAS

    To each their own :)

According to the specs, yes, it supports it.

    • VP9 Profile-2 @ 6.1 up to 8Kp60
    • H.265 HEVC MP-10 @ L6.1 up to 8Kp60
    • AVS3 Phase 1 up to 8Kp60
    • AVS2-P2 Profile up to 8Kp60
    • H.264 AVC HP @ L5.2 up to 4Kp60
    • MPEG-4, WMV/VC-1, AVS, MPEG-2, MPEG-1 up to 1080p60
    • MJPEG and JPEG unlimited pixel resolution decoding (ISO/IEC-10918)
    • Support multi-video decoder up to 4x 4Kp60

Hello. I read the topic - I don't think there was such a question yet: can we hope that in the 21st century we will see a description of audio tracks at the time of playback, and not only in the HT information? It would be good to see an example (photo) of selecting an audio track in the player.

I'm not saying it'll be without bugs, that's inevitable, but I think this will be the most bug free player from any manufacturer at release to date.

I'm still updating my bugs list, but we're getting really esoteric now and you should see the list of ones that have been squashed so far.

Don't suppose you know if this will support the internal player using Plex this time, like the Z9X did, but then the Z9X pro didn't :(

Two completely different use cases. I do have a NAS, but since the media player supports HDD, I find it peculiar that it an arbitrary limit of 16TB is set for those HDD's capacity.

    Don't know, I haven't got Plex running.

Possibly, because this appeared on a changelog today:

Fixed an issue where third-party apps could not call the system player.

That sounds promising! If it can use the internal player I'd buy this and bin the z9x pro!

    Hi Mark….

Thanks for all the info on the new models…..
I realise that you have been peppered with questions, so I only have a few….

Do you know/have you tested if the issue I was having with the Z9X/Pro, regarding Dolby, and VS10 to SDR creating that weird banding on black scenes has been resolved with the 8K, or if it will be fixed on the Pro in a future update?

My blacks are spot on now, having bought a few more Spyder 5’s to mess with, and one of them is so close to being perfect that it’s getting locked in the safe.
I still however get the diagonal banding on maybe 1 out of 10 films. I know that it’s only for a split second every now and then, and is film dependant, so isn’t actually a big deal, but it’s literally the only issue in my entire setup! :D

My other 2 not so important questions…..

On the poster wall, can you now use a separate background image for movie collections?
You can currently select an image, but it doesn’t display, instead showing the background image of the first movie in the collection.

And thirdly, can you add a single movie file to more than one collection? Eg, Die Hard in Die Hard and Christmas, rather than having a separate mkv for both?

    Many Thanks

I assume other people are testing these devices from an end user perspective? I know you are an MKV user but I'm interested in how much testing has been done on the full bluray support and how it compares to current gold standard Dune implementation? I've been weaning myself off full disks as my current Zidoo device is not great with them - but I do miss them!

Setting up a NAS is its own set of knowledge and not everyone wants to learn the ins/outs of a new type of computer. Yes, a NAS does solve the storage issue...but it is not as simple as plugging in a USB cord.

It is my understanding if you use HDMI for your audio...all new models would be the same audio-wise. However, once analog audio enters the mix...the more expensive new models come into play.

I simply want the device to allow the audio signal to be handed off to my AVR for processing...so the Z9X 8k will be my choice (I don't need the internal HDD).
