The biggest downside for me is the 12V2A power supply. We need to connect external power supply when using 2-3 external drives. Zidoo team should have taken this point in consideration and designed it accordingly. Do we even use external power supply when connecting HDDs to PC? Not at all then why even the upcoming Zidoo models needs it?

Re the 8000 the website states: "*Dual HDMI audio and video separate output can enjoy 4K video and HD audio at the same time without upgrading AV receiver." How can this be? If you are using a receiver, you can only access one hdmi input at a time. You can't do this simultaneously. Thus if you are using the audio only input for sound (HDMI 2 on my receiver) and the other HDMI 3 on my receiver), while you are hearing sound, there will be no picture (if you outputting all video to your tv via your reciever), and vice versa.

It is the 32-bit OS limitation using 32-bit registers hence counters for the Physical sector counter. With 32-bit and 4K sectors the limit is 17.2 GByte.
Windows solved this with GPT support coupled to the move to 64-bit W10 actually hiding the problem/limitation using SATA.

Have to admit I don't have a huge library of full disc rips as I'm sure everyone knows my views on these time vampires ;)

But what I've tested have played fine - I've had a few problem discs sent to me and issues are being ironed out with those.

Must admit, messing with them over the last few weeks only reinforces why I hate them so much. Incredibly tedious and unnecessary.

Not noticed any banding issues and testing with Spears and Munsil yields better results than the RTD boxes.

Collection images - I haven't tested, but I don't think so. There's been nothing in the changelogs about that.

And a movie in multiple collections? No.

You use the HDMI audio only port connected to your AMP ( it may be not DV, HDR10+ or even 4K or 8K passthrought capable) and the Video HDMI port directly to your TV for the video signal only.
Old trick already done on many BD and UHD BD disc players many years ago.

It works fine but you need to switch ports for viewing on the AMP plus the TV as a side effect. I am happy having a new amp supporting it all even 8K which I don't need.

Zidoo has any plans to built a device that doesn't need external power supply for the external HDDs? 12v 2A isn't enough to power 2-4 drives and might end up damaging the chip and creating bad sectors on drives.

KJC just use a powered usb hub. That's how I view movies and you will be fine. Don't expect Zidoo to make a device that won't need an external power supply.

You always can use a 12V 4A brick type PSU as I do. These are cheap to buy.
Will power all USB and also the SATA External connector.

The Z3000 Pro and UHD8000 have internal PSU's of 12V 5A. So the answer is yes they already do.

Is that a screen shot from one of the new players? So we will see file names as before? If so a major win.

    @Markswift2003 A few more questions!

As with previous Zidoos can it be set up to load the Movie wall automatically on boot up?
Is there a standby mode with these? My Z9X is either on or off.

Nice Monkey great, didn't know that. I like the usb hub better though, because I can turn on or off any hdd I like. It takes seven.

I do use Icy Box Docking Stations with Quick Loading handles. Have a 5x slot and a 10x slot unit (via single USB3c port). Each slot has individual power buttons. Work great.
I even connect to 4 players concurrently using an USB switch. The player being powered on gets the full docking station automatically.

Doing an Eject one can swap any HDD at any moment on a running player. Much more flexible than a NAS.
