CEC works fine for some of us (me included)

Another vote for the CEC less adapters. AppleTV was really bad and I've since put them on all my CEC capable sources. Turning CEC off doesn't really turn it all the way off the way these wonderful little adapters do.

    It's a UHD Blu-ray (mkv) with TrueHD Atmos audio. Here's a 5 minute clip of cars: https://mega.nz/file/TiQHlQwA#h_sLknKPCbuIVcy_lPXmssGrhbMfvrisXt2IaF0t3gU
The audio cuts out like crazy and is basically unwatchable. :(
The same happens for Avatar: The Way of Water, Lightyear, and any other Disney blu-ray with seamless branching.

Yes exactly - ATV was another culprit. I have one on my Zidoo and one on my ATV.

Confirmed audio cut outs all over the place with this clip. Where did you source this from? Is it an MKV you made or acquired. You say the source is a Disney seamless branching UHD disk - so are the audio gaps where the M2ts breaks would be? Seem to happen too often for that.

This clip was made by Jogal (from the Kodi team) with mkvmerge, from his Blu-ray of Cars. He posted it in a recent thread for testing his new MAT packer which is intended to solve this exact issue. This does indeed happen in every single Disney Blu-ray with seamless branching, and I have personally tested Cars, Lightyear, and Avatar: The Way of Water (but the issue is most obvious in Cars). Audio dropouts in all of them, and the only solution is currently in Kodi nightly builds thanks to the MAT packer rework by Jogal. I was really hoping this wouldn't be an issue on Zidoo because these players are widely touted as having perfect 1:1 playback of a Blu-ray player.

EDIT: Here's the post where Jogal made his breakthrough fix: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=377117&pid=3199175#pid3199175

I've ordered an Z9X 8K and will be interested to see it's journey to Melbourne!

Out of interest I also downloaded the full bluray of Cars in BDMV format. Issue exactly same as with the MKV. Seems it can't cope with so many m2ts files. The movie has 95 of them with the smallest being 20MB and is 3 seconds long!

Yup, it also happens with most Disney Blu-rays. This is a glaring issue that Zidoo needs to address in my opinion. If the Kodi team can solve it, I'm sure Zidoo team can as well!

Alright so I installed Kodi and it plays the Cars sample without any audio dropouts, as expected. Settings are: Passthrough enabled, AudioTrack IEC, and all audio formats enabled. My AVR shows that it is indeed TrueHD Atmos.

The only issue with Kodi is that no resolutions are detected in the whitelist. So there's very obvious video judder unless I manually set my Zidoo resolution to "3840x2160 23.976", in which case the Cars sample plays 100% perfectly.
Is there any way to get the Kodi whitelist to see all the resolutions that my LG G4 is clearly capable of? (maybe an EDID or something?)

Well let’s see then. Stupidly i chose the default shipping method. Its been with DPD, last entry was
07 Aug 2024 09:48 London - United Kingdom The parcel is in transit to its final destination.
It’s either waiting for a plane with capacity or is leaving by row boat. It will be interesting to see what happens with any duty when it arrives.

Back to seamless branching issues then.

Was this a known issue that ended up getting solved on the older models but now resurfaced because of the different SoC?
It's kind of important for me to know if there's a realistic expectation that this will get fixed, since I only have 30 days to decide if I'm going to keep it or try the AM6B+ instead.

As some of the users have got their hand on the new 8K model. Would you like to share your views or opinions on it?

Video quality Compared with the last gen model?
Video quality with AI, Is it really a practically usable thing, Are we gonna see some really good picture enhancements?

The 4K user interface is really a great thing to have on the new sets, enough sharp, crisp to be visibly noticed?
The new Amlogic processor is really a fastest thing when we navigate through options and settings?(Even the last gen zidoo players are fast and responsive enough)
When you play a DV/HDR BD Remux or high bit-rate file, ever noticed the lag in the UI when you navigate through options(subtitles/audio election)? This issue was more evident with the Z9X pro, right?

Has anyone tried "Jellyfish 400mbps" on 8K model? Does it lag like the Z9X pro?

Overall One should should wait till the next gen Zidoo or should upgrade now?

I understand above all the decoding code was rewritten.
Seamless branching was solved during main playback but not on the BD Menu processing in the past. I expect it to be solved once more taking far less time.
