My comment was referring to his statement that included all streaming media players rather that units for streaming home content.

May I ask what beta version you are running currently on your Z9X 8K (so I know that AN8 tag is working on that version)
I just send you a pm with a file to test. Make sure to change subtitles first to dutch before you run the file.

v1.1.38 - I suspect that'll be the version that shipped models update to when powered on.

Downloading the file - will test tomorrow...

    How do you mean?

In my opinion, almost all the decently priced TVs support high bit rate MKV, MP4 formats which are widely used for movie content.
Before having Zidoo, I used to play all the video files including DV, HDR, HLG with DTS audio without any issue or lag or frame skip.

Now with Zidoo, is more comforting and more useful with HT app. Its also reliable and easy to use. Never noticed any PQ difference with Zidoo vs playing directly on TV via USB. This might be because of TV manufactures software algorithms or the picture processing might be as good if not better than Zidoo's.

I think the new 8K models AI feature is appealing. Its also decently working. By enabling the AI one can actually see a visible difference. So it a plus point f you wanna see better picture.

These AI features clearly do not make the image better. At best, they may be able to occasionally reduce a defect in an image... but their interest is not to be activated permanently, except for those who want to "make" an image to their taste.
But in this case, "to their taste" does not mean better, it just means "to their taste"...
This is also why it was very important to ensure that these AI features are disabled by default, and can be used at the user's choice, but above all that they are not imposed. (Thanks to Markswift2003 for that !)

At least by enabling AI one can actually see the difference in image.

Scaling/Zoom of content from 2.35:1 to 16:9 without black bars top and bottom and keep aspect ratio, will the new player with this soc allow this?

I believe the SOC will do it but the options are the same as the Realtek players at the moment.

I’ve asked for Zoom to be implemented.

Well in some movies the aspect ration changes from 16:9 to widescreen and I think TG Maverick is one and Mission Impossible may be another.
    Yes...that's what I meant!

Could any player ever ,do that ,without chopping off content from left and right sides ?

Personally, I'll never hesitate to use AI function as I have watched shane lee's review video in which he's shown few samples of how it works in details so yes the AI feature is for me.

You can zoom in as much as you want to remove the black bars above and below but by doing so and maintaining the proportions, you cut off a large part of the image that you will no longer see. If you do not maintain the proportions, you will have a distorted image. Doing so is wrong!

Yeah - I hate those VAR presentations - but because the Imax sequences are always framed for scope for non IMAX cinemas I always mask to 2.35:1 in the projector and set the screen masks to match.

I certainly wouldn't ever zoom a scope image to 16:9 though

I agree with you but that doesn't bother me. When I watched movies on my computer with Potplayer, I got used to it.

Yes Futeko are owned by SDH Digital. Is that a confirmed despatch? Nothing here yet and I ordered within an hour of the new boxes being available!

Thanks for the reply. R_volution Playerone 8k with the same soc supports this function. Unfortunately, it is 500 euros more expensive than Zidoo Z9x 8K:cool::)
