My zidoo z9x 8k was sent to me today from the Exclusivit.eu store. I will have it at home next week.

@Markswift2003 Can you confirm if the 8K models support WebDav or FTP as a media source instead of SMB (which is quite frankly slow on older models). Were there any SMB improvements to improve speed? My SMB share is a Windows PC which also has WebDav and FTP servers configured.

Not as a media source for HT if that's what you mean (only SMB and NFS).

There is a native WebDav client but not a native ftp client.

As far as servers go, only Samba so only serves SMB shares. But it's a media player, not a NAS drive so that's to be expected.

Personally never had an issue with SMB speed.

I am only interested in media source for HT. Not as a server.

Wondering what the Zidoo does with WebDav as a client if not for HT?

It's just an available client in the network settings:

You should have no zero problems with SMB as a source for HT.

On the older versions (2022 and 2023), some of my files buffer. It's a small portion but it's there. It could be my network. I currently use a UHD3000 where Ethernet is not available so I can use my drives directly, Wifi is sketchy.

I am hoping the new gen of Zidoos have a better Wifi experience for me.

Something network related definitely - The new boxes support Wifi 6 but I'd never recommend using Wifi for these devices but I know many do.

My network has about 120 clients with 10 switches and 5 WAPs, all Cat V (not VI or VII) except a couple of fibre links between switches and I can honestly say I've never ever seen a buffering issue from a Zidoo box from the X9S years ago right up to the UHD 8000.

Ah right - that's different - it's not zoom, it's a 'scope setting which the Realtek Zidoos also have but seems to have been dropped from the AML models - not sure why.

I can change the aspect ratios with my PJ using lens presets and just curious if the new players do this.
Do all the new players have the same image quality...one is not better than another?

First bit - not sure what you mean.

Second bit - tricky... On the old Realtek players I would have said yes, but on the AML ones, there are a few things I don't want to divulge about the Zidoo players that means they will pip both Dune and R_Zappitilution in terms of picture quality.

Amazon US sells some of the Zidoo players. Will they carry any of the new players?

Has Futeko stopped selling the Zidoo UHD8000 to the US. I notice for the last few days there is no way to order from the US and the price is crossed out.
