Are you back from the Dark Side or still over there??

Just for information, it also works good without "grounding", the two known devices have no protective conductor connection in the IEC socket.

Honest answer is I don't know - I haven't used a DVD image in years. I converted all my old DVD stuff to MKV but I only keep it for old times sake.

If you can upload something to Mega for example I'd be happy to test (although I'm away on holiday from Saturday for a week).

    Hmm. Interesting.

I'd definitely trust Denon to be Class 2 with a two pole IEC, but I'm not sure about Dune - think I'd want to whip the back off to be sure it was double insulated ;)

@Nice Monkey is correct (of course) - all Zidoos with an internal PSU are Class 1. And I would expect nothing less.

I have Class 2 Denon amps and have in the past had issue with ground loops, but not in the last couple of decades and not really applicable to these media players (more applicable when you have isolated powered external speakers - subwoofers for example).

I saw real sparks when interconnecting my PC via HDMI to my Onkyo AMP as the switched PSU of the Tower PC created a floating earth unless it was connected via an Earthed socket together with my Hifi rack. Was easy to measure that voltage floating respective to earth. I think most PC PSU's do this?

Needed to pull an extra earth wire in my living as my old house build 1968 still used unearthed sockets in the living and bedrooms. Today that is a mandatory provision for all sockets in the NL.
Have a house also in Bolivia you don't want to know how they wire houses there. They even commonly use shower heads heated by a direct exposed spiral to 220V. The deployment of residual-current circuit breakers is hardly ever done. Use a solar boiler myself not connected to electric wiring at all. Some electric boilers are used but these are regarded expensive.

@ Mark are you still using a JVC projector through a Denon amp? You were a great help getting me setup with my X570r and 6700h.

From what I gather, this new box will have similar, if not identical, A/V quality with this gear but with an improved interface experience.

Can you shed some light on what that will be? Will it ship with HT5 or a newer version of HT4?

Will the newer version of HT make it's way to the Z9X? I know it's against what most people would do... but personally I would be MORE apt to buy the new box if ZIDOO would make some effort to throw a bone backwards to it's legacy hardware...

I'm assuming the 3rd USB port on the z3000 pro is behind the HDD door, right?

Re this whole FEL thing, is there any benefit to it ? There seems to ba a loyal following documenting all of these movies, like so… why is it so important to do this ? Nothing that in the spreadsheet there is no mention of Zidoo https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...HU9n1f_S74/edit?gid=1222148710#gid=1222148710
I own an ugoos and Zidoo z9x,also awaiting the new 8k on preorder. I can live with both happily without playing one off against the other. Can I ask what is this FEL Loophole that you speak of ?

For those of us who recall setting up windows, took a handful of floppy disks. It was 13 floppies to install win95

I'll keep out of the whole FEL debate - I prefer to watch movies rather than comparing the brightness of a handful of pixels in the lapel of someone's black jacket in a freeze frame of an obscure movie that someone rushed through post on a friday afternoon.

Dolby don't allow media players to be able to decode the Full Enhancement Layer - at this stage in the game, I've no idea why, but that's the way they want to play it.

AML SOCs support multiple HEVC decoders and earlier SDKs for AML SOCs allowed the use of FEL, but later ones do not, so anything beyond the 922 cannot use it even though the hardware is capable.

Until someone finds a way around it...

But to be fair, Dolby Vision is such a pointless mess now, I'm way beyond caring!

Never mind Windows - DOS used to come on multiple floppies :)

And before hard discs were the norm you had to boot with floppy discs into the vast KB of memory you had!

Yep - same projector - one day I'll upgrade, but it throws such a good image I keep putting it off.

Yes - very similar, slightly improved image, but whole lot quicker and a slicker more coherent interface - brings all the Zidoo and Eversolo products together. Very much improved Music Player and App.

It has HT5 and HT5 is being ported to Z9X Pro. Z9X is getting an HT update too, but not sure whether that includes HT5 yet but I imagine so.

I have no problems at all especially no lipsync issue or so. its just perfect on my side. denon avc x4800h and lg oled all playback is perfect also vc1.
no iso, only mkvs and not sure but I don't think I have 59.x hz, only 23.9.

all on emby server nas 1821+ 1gig lan no wifi at all.

I also had no problems with shield pro on playback or stutter / lipsync. never. but with the ugoos everything is better than with shield / emby atv or android..

coreelec and kodi are community driven and non profit. the ugoos device is basically old and therefore not so expensive. the good thing is the chip is more than sufficient for everything and it was utilized by the community for the dv with fel playback. now that's something only that device is capable of. with the description of the forum you put the os on the internal emmc and also I increase the reading speed of that emmc to 400. then its a rocket :)
