I was answering to that sentence here

but it's flakey as hell and not a viable solution for serious users - great for the hobbyist and very interesting, but with respect, not for serious users

which is a bad joke in my opinion!! a very bad!

even a year later the fw for the z9x pro is still called beta!! I needed a forum after buying a zidoo! I was beta tester here! there was no communication about received bugs and update pipe. there was nothing!! nothing! only a buggy box and technical support from Mark but also always saying no clue if and when...

and then writing the box without any issue at all (in my set up of course) is some kind of a project and not for serious user. sorry really

yeah and leisure suite larry on how many 15 514 floppies

I think you should try coreelec and ugoos, really try! just to have a new reference for a painless box and the maximum quality

amb6+, 2 now :) the one that has dv fel, it was some kind of happy coincidence and it was right first I read kodi (know if as xmbc years ago) and I thought I will never....

but now with arctic zephire reloaded skin maybe 8h customizing.. small menu left only icons, rest widgets and full screen art.. all as you like, new ones, continue, genre, boxes, tags,... ultra fast ultra nice.
never thought this is would be possible with kodi and a Linux behind it (never really tried Linux on a PC never had the time to play with a os)

    Commander Keen? Happy days :)

I'm afraid I can't be tempted by Kodi - I hate it passionately! As I say, we're all different.

The Ugoos is one of only two media players that I've ever sent back - actually thinking about, I think it's the only one - I literally threw a Popcornhour in the trash in disgust once.

The only positive is FEL playback and that's just not enough. Particularly since it has obsolescence built in because the FEL loophole has since been closed.

    i
    yes! and monkey Island!!

was hating kodi too!! that's why I'm so happy that I tried it.

you don't see anything from kodi!! you have a skin and you customize that one.

    that's like saying I hate android because it's a Linux kernel :)

and for the fel I'm not even sure I would see a difference. I know it's working with the box but personally I'm not making side by side tests or even other boxes. the Pic is just great. really really great. and the on screen menu and player functionalities.... oh my.. you should try. but at least don't write the things you wrote if you haven't... glasshouse.... ;)

Lemmings - now that was funny!

No - I've used Kodi when it was XBMC, I used Kodi on Zidoo before HT was written, and I used Kodi on a Shield because there was no other choice.

I just find Kodi too scatter gun - I've described it before as if someone threw a load of code at a wall to see what would stick - and all the skins look to me like they were written by a teenager on heat.

As I say, possibly in the minority, but that's just me ;)

I have to disagree here as I have the ugoos am6b+ and CE and my h264 4k 29,97fps files plays badly and choppy and vc-1 hardware acceleration looks terrible because it’s broken (known bug of s922x) so I have to put SW mode and get lip synch issues. Also am getting lipsynch issues with normal uhdbd rip. Dts seems to have no lipsynch issues but atmos does and it’s a pain to adjust lipsynch on every file since I didn’t see where I can set a general one.

people’s setup matters and your mileage will vary and for me on the playback side of things with no lip synch, only the Zidoo and shield with plex app does it perfectly and I don’t want to use eArc since it’s evil. If the zidoo and nvidia shield can have no lip synch with a SOURCE -> AVR -> TV path then it’s possible and the other boxes need to make a better effort.

Also, kodi just cannot play correctly my own 1080p@59,97 fps encodes (dvd deinterlaced) and has choppy playback and every other boxes I tried plays them perfectly.

For the PQ though yes the ugoos and FEL is amazing.

@Markswift2003 , maybe you missed my question but any news on h264@L5.2 4k50/60 from Zidoo?

    Sorry - yeah missed it.

I get a stupid amount of alerts and PMs every day and I try to catch them all, but don't always manage it...

So it still plays in software - they've removed the popup but that's not a solution - I still don't know if it's actually supported by the hardware.

If I'm honest, it's probably not at the top of the list at the moment as it's rather niche and the initial firmware is being finalised for release.

I don’t expect it to be at the top either but thanks for checking this with them and hope you will pursue on this.

I started converting to H265 but it’s gonna be long…

Didn't know about "Ugoos" media players. The new AM8 model comes with Voice search and Air mouse feature also the remote offers BT connectivity so no need to point out the remote towards the media player. This is all I wanted from the beginning.

    Thanks @supermood :);)

One more thing, why these players are cheaper in price than Zidoo? They are offering almost everything or more than what zidoo is offering.

    @Markswift2003

Sorry if my question is related to a old format which is not the main use for the UHD8000.
I am a happy owner of a UHD5000, which I find a really perfect device. And I have a lot of iso DVD on it (with concerts and music video). Most play without major problem.

Do the UHD8000 support iso DVD with menu ?

In the futeko page I have read the following :
*Supports external BD/DVD (unencrypted)/CD discs playback and CD ripping.
*Supports BD/UHD Blu-ray menu playback and gapless branching playback of Blu-rays with complex MPLS structure.

If I change my device for a UHD8000, I want to be sure that I will be able to read my DVDs rip.
And the word "external" makes me have doubts.

Thanks in advance if you can test that.
