    It works without internet.

This AI stuff means basically this:
In the past all the upscaling algos or post processing was static. So its the same no matter the content (faces, nature, cars, test patterns).
Now with the "AI" (its not really AI) its not static but dynamic. This means the processing, i.e. the algo, depends on the displayed content. So basicaly it first determines what content is displayed and then applies the predetermined method for upscaling/post processing.

    Thanks for clarifying that up.

Did extensive testing replacing a brick 12V 4A (never use the standard 12V 2A) with a 2x 12V 5A Linear PSU. Used it for Zidoo and Dune entry players. My conclusion was I could not detect any improvement neither in PQ nor SQ.
Being all digital not a real surprise. Being very big and needing to power it on/off separately it was removed from my rack again.

Had a Himedia media player in the past doing that too. Lucky it could be turned off being on by default. My OLED Philips TV does a better job there but also that has been turned off as I am using mainly quality full BD's to play. With mediocre content (grainy, noise etc) it may actually improve the image.

What would be useful is to do same test with a player from the RTD 1619BPD range and compare to AI off on new 8K range. Cheers.

In the event of a malfunction of the player, much more will broken, than with a power supply unit that is adapted to the consumption.

Simply use a $10 power consumption meter to determine the required power and add a maximum of 1 A.

I measured this once and if I remember correctly, it was under 20W (20/12=1.7A) with a Z9X. If a USB drive without its own power supply is connected, this consumption must also be added.

I have always used standard power supplies and have never had a problem.

Is the A.I. efficient on both 1080p and 2160p??

What do you mean by "efficient"?

I have had the Z9X for years and for my needs I am not very demanding 40Tb 6 disks connected through a USB hub and Kodi with zdmc, with the settings and recommendations that I have followed thanks to Mark I am enjoying the z9x a lot, now when it comes out in z9x 8k I will take the leap and I am sure I will enjoy it

I tested the Z9X Pro vs Z9X 8K on a Spears & Munsil sharpness pattern from their latest disc - this one:

    upload_2024-7-17_12-41-37.png

There's no huge difference between the two - maybe a tiny bit more ringing on the 8K, maybe not, but it's a different SOC so I would expect slight differences. Nothing to write home about and certainly nothing I've seen on real world content.

These images are rough as hell because of moire etc, but I tried to zoom in and show the same portion.

You also have to take into account these patterns are designed to test a display rather than a source.

To underline what Mark said I tested several 2160p shaprness patterns (no direct comparison with RTD devices) and they all seemed to be pixel perfect, so no additional post processing.
Will do some more testing to be sure.
