Go to Music Player, Library and then long-touch on the folder with the new music. A menu should pop up - there you can click on "Update"

Also no DSD, no multi-channel, max out at 192kHz/24-bit, no internal storage, not clear if the USB is storage or Audio out.

Very scaled down, mostly to be used for headphones?

For almost 1/3 of the cost of the A6, it is a bargain. I don’t care multichannel audio (A8 hasn’t either) and I do not care about internal storage having all my music in a NAS. Analog inputs (with possibility of HT Bypass) and Room Correction are real pluses. For $329

How do you infere it is for headphones? It has the same specs as A6 to be used, even more due to analog inputs, in a full scale system

    The pricing certainly is sharp!
I also have enjoyed the A6 for more than a year before this has arrived and I do for my use case do appreciate a larger LCD screen and the HDMI out for surround / SACD (yes yes i know its niche) and technology over time does get cheaper, so this is to be expected I guess.

It will be interesting to see how Eversolo responds from here….

I hope eversolo does not respond with new devices, but rather in improvements to the firmware.
Nikon for example had some bad years, but they put out firmware updates to their initial mirrorless cameras for many years and so gained so much respect that they are back and big in the market.

Love MCH on many albums: SACD, DVD-Audio, BD-Audio and even original DTS-CD. The biggest mistake people make is using a mix of speakers for fronts, central and backs which obviously will never sound even nearly as it could.
You really need to use the same brand and even family for all as detailed in my added link.

Remember that A8 has not Multichannel either and it costs 6 times Wiim Ultra, with same analog inputs

Agree, I have a 5.2.4 entirely in the Kef R series which sounds very seamless and airy.

The Ultra looks to be an excellent streamer at a great price. I was going to wait for the Ultra to become available but went with a used DMP-A6 instead. As much as the Ultra has great features and price the DMP-A6 is the better choice for my needs. The HDMI output, internal SSD option, USB output, larger display, IR remote codes and the Eversolo app are well worth the extra cost IMO. I still have two WiiM players in use (Mini and Pro) and they are great.
I agree that it's best to have matching speakers in a surround system. My speakers are all from Salk speakers. The fronts are Salk HT2-TLs, Salk 1801b center with Salk 1801TL surrounds. The only mismatch is that the HT2-TLs have Raal ribbon tweeters and the 1801s have dome tweeters. Not an issue that I notice when playing surround music. Having floor standing surrounds is also a big advantage especially with quad mixes.

I also have all speakers the same brand and series (Focal Aria all). But what’s the point of that in this thread?

The matching speaker point was brought up when the HDMI output for surround music was mentioned.

For a larger display (8.8”) and 180w of Class G amplification, Dirac included, there is the new integrated Arcam SA45 ($5.000) or the also new SA35, with 6.5” and 120W ($3.500)

Dirac is stupid, Arcam's Music life app is also terrible...
I have Arcam SA30 and it can't compare with the A6 at all as a streamer/dac so I'm using it only for amplification for the time being until it is also replaced.

Exactly. Not even close to the A6. And missing many more features the A6 has.

Why is Dirac "stupid" in your opinion? I've been using Dirac for years with my Emotiva XMC-1 and it works quite well in my room.

not even close? I have an A6 but I can see that the Wiim has analog inputs, room correction, ARC, headphone amp… What “many more features” has my A6 that the Wiim has not?

Ability to load android apks. Surround music via hdmi, 32-bit/768kHz PCM files and DSD512, onboard SSD, larger screen……. Bottom line is each person is going to have their measure of a value proposition based upon their needs.

Changes sound signature so whatever you hear is not what is the original. The way to control it is also very basic with very little room for specific tuning - you don't have multiple areas but only one which is pretty stupid imo.
I would trade it for parametric EQ like the one in the Eversolo(I've never used it so I'm hoping/guessing it's the same like in the RME Adi 2 Dac, which is amazing!), every day of the week.
