Hello, I have a JVC NZ8 which is 8K compatible, therefore I am very interested on the player capabilities to upscale and enhance content to 8K resolution.

Please, could you confirm the AI enhancements would work when upscaling any content (HD and 4K) all the way to 8K? Are there limitations/restrictions?

Indeed. That is how it works.

It's always been like that on Zidoo unfortunately. It seems that the trailer is first downloaded into cache before being played. On mine takes a good 20 seconds before trailer starts. Why they need to do that I don't know.

I'm using Tiny media Manager, so all the trailers are offline available.

I read about "dual subtitles", does this mean I can use 2 subtitles at the same time ? My wife doesn't speak the same language as me...

Unfortunately I know that very well, I had a Zidoo UHD3000 for almost 2 years before the Dune. It also took me 20 seconds.

I just wonder why the very best media player in the world still has this problem with online trailers?

Why a team, by a number of senior engineers, including five decoding engineers and more than 20 system and application engineers, has not managed to fix this in almost 2 years!?

Yep, and I thought ZDMC at 8 seconds was slow...

Okay thanks. Will have to see what the SOC DAC is like when my UHD8000 arrives?

I'm afraid this is a very difficult (if not impossible) question to answer at this stage. 8K displays and VPRs (via e-shift vobulation like in your case, nothing native) are very limited. I think it is something you will need to evaluate yourself (or at least this is what I would do), because both the new Zidoos (from what I understood reading here and watching some video screenshots) and your NZ8 (via e-shiftX) have several levels of settings in terms of upscaling processing: maybe Zidoo is better? Maybe sticking to the JVC one is better? Maybe a wise mix of both will do the job? And maybe things can be different between 1080p and 4K content? Or between a grainy film one and a clean digital one? So (too) many variables to consider (and also personal taste!)... or at least this is my opinion ;)

In terms of possibile limitations / restrictions I'll let the beta-testers answer the question (I'm curious to know if the AI "super resolution" processing works also with any HDR content, including Dolby Vision, for example). I'm personally not interested in the feature, but in terms of "AI Image Enhancement" the manual of the Z9X 8K says (and I quote): "AI image enhancement only applies to videos with 1080p resolution or lower and is effective when the current output is higher than 1080p". So content resolution seems to be a first limitation...

I don't see an audio plug for the build in DAC on the UHD8000. So it is there but not wired as everybody will prefer the superiar DAC.
So that won't go. It is present on the simpler models only.

Oh okay, so I take it from what you’re saying is that when you select HDMI audio output, the DAC on the SOC doesn’t output any audio and the stereo outputs are silent?

I will still have my Z1000 Pro so I suppose I can use that as a karaoke only device, but I was hoping to make use of the better DAC on the UHD8000 when it came. Other option is to use the Z1000 Pro via HDMI into my modified Oppo 203 and use the DAC in it, but I was hoping to simplify my setup a bit, rather than complicate it further.

    Yes I know.

My worry is the poor quality of AI picture enhancements we see these days in many products.

AI picture upscaling shows better result in many cases....enhancements just don't look natural anymore for my eyes.

I'd be suprised it it's not super resolution by another name (an option aleady in a lot of TV's),.

Looking forward to users of the new units doing their testing.

I like many of you used to rely on online trailers... why I stayed with using them as long as I did is beyond me ... playing the YouTube trailer quality lottery? Once I made the decision to take 10 minutes to compare and then download the best looking trailer/s and add them to its movie folder, it is sooooo much better. High quality and super fast. Just seems like a no-brainer now....

For me, figuring out the automation of obtaining and organizing said downloads is the sticking point. It is likely that many are like me and are new to this world of local media playback and media organization...it is a lot to take in at first. I have been reading up on Tinymediamanager...as a start...and I will continue researching from there. I likely will not individually obtain and organize local trailers myself.
