I have no insider knowledge on these boxes! However from multiple questions on forums the SOC does not support 3D - so not available on either the new 8K Zidoo or Dune boxes using this chip.

Originally the AI settings were hidden away in Developer Options and defaulted to On. I got these exposed in the UI and defaulted to Off.

No, the SOC doesn't support frame packed 3D (SBS and OU will obviously work).

Think they beleive 240 v 0.35 A isnt enuff to power the device

but as i pointed out thats 84 W no losses so an easy 5-7 A at 12v so should be fine

yes I know but my point is that on the Dune Pro One 8K even with all AI options turned off (I turned them off in developer options) the Dune still oversharpens… less but still bad on some content, especially old grainy or very sharp movies to begin with so I was wondering if the Z9X 8K is doing the same. I think that’s the kind of question I will have to see with my own eyes when I get it.

This will be very helpful. The only thing that's prevented me from pre ordering is the claim that, even with AI off, there's still some sharpening happening on the Dune.

I really hope the Zidoo models don't do so, so anxiously await your observations

be careful loading up on unpowered external drives - even if the external power supply is unrated, the voltage regulators on the board feeding the USB sockets are not.

Can you be a bit more specific?
So is there a difference between on and off? Or "off" ist just less processing?

With the Zidoo there is a significant difference between on and off.

Some improvised pics (first ones are AI off):
