Z9X 8K/Z30 PRO/Z3000 PRO/UHD8000 First Impressions

  1. I noticed with the z9x 4k it plays vc-1 when starting it from the beginning. It is when you go to resume, I notice stuttering occurs to the point it feels like strobe lights for those vc-1 files

i did slide movie forward to see if that had any effect ,but none

Ill go re test it ,with a pause

Just retested on the Z9X Pro ,it auto resumed from where i left off yesterday ,no stuttering at all
Even on pause/play it was smooth
Even closed movie and restarted again from the resume spot ,and still played smooth
and with none of the 150 ish m/s audio delay it has on the Z30 8K (VC1 still only movie/ tv epi to have that for me)

  4. That weird. You would think with these devices that would have their act together, vc1 codecs are common amongst earlier versions of blu-ray remux files. SMH

It appears that only one audio output is selectable on the z9x8k which is a shame as the z9x aloud both optical and the av jack to output at the same time, important for me as my son uses a hearing aid TV box. Am I wrong?

  6. Does this player convert DV to hdr10 for my Samsung tv? Or, do I need to get one of those boxes that convert DV to hdr10?

Of course, this box converts DV content to your TV. If your Samsung TV supports HDR10, then you'll get it. Check the LLDV and VS10 methods provided by the Zidoo.

  8. I am sorry, I meant does it convert DV metadata into Hdr10 for my Samsung tv?

Yes, VS10 uses the Dolby Vision RPU metadata to convert to a dynamically tone mapped HDR10 image (obviously depends how you set up HDR options).

  10. Oh, ok. Thanks

Zidoo has issues with .ASS subtitles that have non-plaintext graphical elements.

    1)
ASS subtitles that have significant graphical elements often cause subtitles to stop displaying afterwards. Using the seek bar to move backwards or forward will make the subtitles appear again.

Also, the graphical elements in the subtitles seem to cause frame drops.

I used to encounter this in Plex on the Nvidia Shield as well, but it seems less common in Plex on Apple TV. It seems fairly common on Zidoo.

You should be able to reproduce this around 10:56 of this video:

    2)
ASS subtitles don't seem to be formatted or rendered properly. Not sure if it's due to missing font types?

For example, here's what the subtitles look like in the IINA player on MacOS vs Zidoo at around 1:57 in the same video.

    Zidoo:

I am considering buying the Zidoo Z3000Pro 8K.

What is the difference in image quality compared to the Oppo UDP203?

How do the movie covers work faster and more fluidly by leaving the hard drive in the bay inside the Zidoo or playing from my PC via SMB?

If you are asking if the HT5 scraper always has the UHD black banner as an option...I have been able to find one via HT5 for all of my 4k movies...but my collection of such movies is not extensive nor does it contain any obscure movies. That said, I think you will be able to find one via HT5 for most (if not all) of your movies...and not have to use TMM or another outside source.

Sidenote: poster management is one of the reasons I have started using Plex and the Plexmod on these boxes...more poster options and I only have to maintain one library that is then synced to all my devices. I am not unhappy with HT5, but it takes a bit more effort to keep libraries between boxes the same.

    Hello everyone
New to this forum but a long-time HCFR member
I am very happy with my Z30Pro, I just have a problem on some MKV movies where the forced PGS subtitles appear on a horrible fluorescent yellow background (see screenshot below).
On DUNE or Infuse, these subtitles appear normal. So this problem seems to come from Zidoo.
Have you also noticed this bug?
    Thanks

For general use it will be slightly better. If you need upscaling to HDR or HDR conversions the new DV10 engine can do all that very well.
Don't use my OPPO anymore for anything. Maybe I should sell it.

My beloved Oppo 203 is now the loneliest piece of gear in my rack. I should sell it but I just can't bring myself to do it.

Hello everyone, I bought a z3000pro and wonder if it has an external hard drive limit, I also have a z1000pro with 37+ disks in different sizes connected to 2 usb hubs and it works perfectly. But with the z3000, I can only connect 25 disks, then it a stop, it does not load more disks. Anyone know if it's a bug or if there will be an update in the future? Thanks in advance
