    Hi,
Has anyone seen this problem with subtitles PGS on a yellow background?

Sorry no. PGS display correctly for me. I know that doesn't really help you but confirms it's not a general issue.

The strange thing is that I have this problem on only a few movies. Other movies with PGS subtitles also play correctly.
However, the ones that cause problems play correctly on Infuse or Dune. Which makes me think there is a problem with ZIDOO...

Are you able to upload a sample - just a few minutes - to somewhere like Mega so the tech guys can see the issue?

Please can you recommend a 5400rpm hard drive to put inside my Zidoo bay and that is ultra-quiet so that no noise is heard?

I would like it to be 14TB or 16TB but I think all these models are 7200rpm and are noisier.

Same here - yellow background. Odd. You say it only happens with a few files you have? Are they all from the same source? I have many files with PGS subs and I've never seen this before.

    Hi,
I haven't checked all my movies. I tested a few other movies with forced PGS subtitles and no problem. So far I have two movies that have this problem. Both movies ripped with DVDFab v13.02.7 from an original BD
But if you watch my film clip on a player other than ZIDOO, you will see that the yellow background does not appear !
Note that these 2 same films with forced subtitles in SRT instead of PGS, the display is correct.
    I don't understand...

PGS Subs are transparent graphic files rather than plain text (like SRT) so there must be something in the transparent background of the graphic that the Zidoo doesn't like of these particular files.

Will pass to devs when back.

I have this movie in my collection, using the same language for the forced PGS, and I don't have any issue like this.

Ripped with MakeMKV in my case.

    A corrupted file?

    Hi Temearoo, ;)
I don't think of a corrupted file. As already said above, I have another movie that presents the same problem. And the reading of these 2 movies read on DUNE, Apple TV + INFUSE or PlayerFab displays correctly the subtitles without this yellow background
I know it's strange, I don't have an explanation but there must be a reason for all this.
We will wait for the return of Markswift2003 with the devs

    Hello All,

I just received my UHD8000 (I already own an Eversolo DMP-A6ME). I wanted to see if it had any additional capabilities in the music realm that the Eversolo does not. The answer is sort of.

I have my stereo and multi-channel pcm files in .flac
I have my stereo and multi-channel dsd files in .dsf and also the originial .iso containers
    I have my MPEG-H in .m4a
I have my DTS-X in .dtsx
I have my Atmos in .mka and .thd
I have my Auro-3D in .flac

The music player in the UHD8000 does NOT recognize the m4a, dtsx, .mka, .thd and does not correctly read the Auro3d .flac files.
If I put any of these in an mkv container, the VIDEO player on the UHD8000 will play them, but it obviously will not correctly work with the library functions. It will only work manually with the file browser.

Also, as it stands, i will have to makes 3 sets of connections from the UHD8000 to my Pre/Pro.
HDMI main digital out for the video/object music formats/multi-channel pcm and stereo pcm 192k and below
HDMI audio digital out for the dsd files dsd128 and below
XLR analog out for the dsd > dsd128 and pcm > 192k (the DAC in my pre/pro does not support these higher rates)

So lots of switching on both the UHD8000 and my Pre/Pro as well as pre-processing all of my audio-only object format tracks.
It would be so simple just to tell the UHD8000 to bitstream everything to the main HDMI and let the pre/pro decode everything. That would mean a lot less switching (JRiver does this)

I am happy with the performance of the Video player in the UHD8000.

The Apple music app on the UHD8000 is not as convenient as the one on the Eversolo. Also the Android tablet app interface covers up some of the "load more" links and so i cannot load more posters. I am at the point that the convenience of having a single device is less convenient than using 2 separate ones. I believe that i will return the UHD8000.

    Hi,
Today, on the HCFR forum another user reports this PGS problem on a yellow background. Is this reported to the developers?
    Thanks

Hello everyone! I have been a happy user of z9x pro (almost) and recently decided to upgrade to z3000 pro, for the looks, better components and performance.

Just wanted to share my experience:

    1. I like the new UI - it's a tad bit cleaner and modern looking
    2. A bit faster response and loading time
    3. Overall this new player looks classy and fit better with other equipment that I have
    4. The video quality is great, hard to compare to the previous zidoo that I had, but it's maybe 10% improved
    5. HDR/DV brightness seems more pronounced (just a feeling, maybe it's a placebo effect)

My setup chain is: Synology NAS connected via WI-FI 6 local network to Zidoo z3000, then into Denon x1800h and into 5.1 speaker system + LG C1

At first I encountered weird occasional pause and resume bug that happened only in certain movies (such as 1917 and pacific rim blu rays ISO). I changed an HDMI cable linking reciever to TV for a certified one and problem went away! (+ picture improved)
    So, check your cables folk.

So for now I think everything works more or less stable... but, sometimes I ocassionaly get choppy/ stuttery playback, though that is easily fixed by going back to the poster menu and resuming a movie from there. Hope this will be fixed in coming patches. It happens at random, yesterday I was watching Baby Driver and for an hour everything was smooth and then I started noticing frame drops/ stutters. I am not sure why this happens but hopefully zidoo will look into that. Note that I had exactly same setup and with z9x pro everyting was working flawlessly on 1.0.95.

For sound reproduction I think this player is decent, I like the included options for apple music and tidal. My only gripe is that apple music control is atrocious even with mobile app. It's just not convenient and I much prefer using local library or included internet radio.
I have also tried multichannel audio - works great, sounds fantastic. Haven't tried dedicated HDMI audio yet (and not sure I ever will lol)

For movies everything is OK, dts:x. dts-hd, dolby atmos etc. all plays good and no apparent lipsync issues that I can notice.

Overall I am pleased with this new product and, given my previous experience, I am positive that with new firmware things will get stable as it happened with z9x pro on 1.0.95

I've got a very similar setting than yours (LG TV - Denon AVC-X6700H and Tp-Link Deco WiFi6) and found a big difference between Z9Xpro and Z9X8K which is having the same Soc with only 6GB instead of 8GB RAM. I've suffered stuttering issues with my Z9XPro but now disappeared totally with new Z9X8K. Even playing MKVs of 100GB, it gets micro stuttering sometimes that I think due to WiFi6 connection as main cause.

Of course different SoC but I was meaning Z9X8K and Z3000pro which are exactly the same. And I said earlier, yours Z3000pro got +2GB RAM.
About the WiFi6 issues, obviously the stuttering depends on the bandwidth it has at the time of playback. I don't like to convince you but sharing experiences. I've noticed that if the Zidoo box IP doesn't receive 5GHz of WiFi and strong signal, it works differently.

Ah, sorry, got it wrong. New SOC and boost in RAM definitely add to performance.

Sure, I am just trying to understand the nature of stuttering.
It absolutely CAN be due to wi-fi, though wi-fi 6 gives me about 2400/1900 Mbps, that should be plenty in theory and gave me stable streaming previously
