Z9X 8K/Z30 PRO/Z3000 PRO/UHD8000 First Impressions

A lot of boxes are going to land this week and I believe some already have them, so I thought I'd start a First Impressions thread.

Well its arrived! Unboxing, set up and test to come. Happy days! Love a new shiny toy.

 

Mine's got another 3 to 4 hours to go still - the excitement of anticipation!

 

Can you perhaps write a few words about online trailers later? If not available, then about manual starting, is that quick?

Online trailers not working for me

 

Thank You. And if you start a trailer manually, does it take a long time to start?

 

OK initial set up complete. Auto updated to 1.1.38.

Not an auspicious start. After set up I powered down and turned off at switch at the back. On power up the box stuck at 'Hello' on the display. I again switched it off, unplugged power cable and waited 60 secs. Re connected and powered up - OK this time. A bit worrying though.

 

That's how I have it set up - manual start. Any movie I try I immediately get 'There are no available trailers'. Here we go again.

 

Ok, thank you very much, I'll keep my hands off the best player in the world for now. It's a good thing I cancelled my pre-order.

 

Just so everyone's on the same page, may I please ask if members could head up their posts regarding which of the new models they are giving impressions on - thank you

All I can say is WOW with regards the handling of full bluray menus! It's an absolute joy to behold. I still have one problematic disk (Dolby Atmos Demo Disc 2016) that just will not get to menu - given up on that one.

I had a few others that were very iffy - but all play beautifully now. All get to main menu quickly and smoothly - fantastic.

This was always a big plus for Dune players - they will be very worried now!

 

Strange, Working fine here, They load a little faster than the Z9X Pro, not by much, few seconds maybe.

 

Which Device?

 

Mine acts if it's set to play local trailers only (I haven't!) as I immediately get message saying 'There are currently no trailers to play!'. Previously when not working it attempted to play online trailers but after a delay failed.

You can check some publication of Aliens, in terms of playing the menu. Thank you.

 

What do you mean? I have the recent Aliens UHD full bluray rip. It plays fine. I don't have any other versions

I meant the previous editions FullHD blu-ray from 2011, not 4K. The menus on those editions did not play well on Zidoo.
