TBH i never use hdr 10
i have a good DV tv and honestly all non DV stuff looks so much better via VS10 so its always been on vs10 for all hdr sdr and even hlg stuff

  2. I read an article where it said that the AI features give the motion pictures orange tint. Here is the quote: “However, I wasn't a huge fan of AI PQ, as it oversaturated the picture and made skin tones look somewhat orange, but this is based on personal preference.”

  3. Does anyone know if this device can play SD Mpeg-2 codec that used for early version of DVD back in 00s. I tried looking at my superman adventures DVD rip in mkv, it would not let me on Z9k 4k. I want to know if this 8k version with different chip will play the SD Mpeg-2 codec for DVD rips

No it doesn't. I tried a sample (see media info report below) and it failed to play.

Anyone know why this file does not play successfully on the Zidoo Z9X 8K? It stops playing within a second or two.

    This is a 39MB 9-second clip of the x265 10-bit video.

Well the frame rate looks odd and the frame rate mode is 'Variable' and should be 'constant'

    Frame rate mode : Variable
    Frame rate : 6 995.332 FPS

    Should be something like:

    Frame rate mode : Constant
    Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS

Doh, this seems to be caused by my cropping of the video.

The original file has Constant frame rate of 23.976 FPS.

    Here's the original file:

With my former tv sony 950H everything looked best in DV, but with my Bravia9, hdr looks better than DV for non dv media.

Sorry, this post got caught in the pattern buffer - just authorised it!!

I really wouldn’t bother cropping files - it saves very little space and just degrades quality.

It’s a different matter if you are purposely compressing the file, but if you’re just doing it for the sole reason of cropping black bars, I wouldn’t bother.

I’d try Staxrip if you really want to do it.

    I confused the matter more.

The original file which has constant 23.976 FPS also doesn't play in Zidoo.

I tried to cut 9 seconds from the video because the original file is 5GB which I thought people wouldn't want to download for testing, but here it is :)

I downloaded the file. Playing it now. Got to five minutes with no issues.

    Thanks for testing.

Huh, that's so strange. I wonder what the issue is with my AV setup. I tried playing that file with Plex (Direct Play) on Apple TV and it works. It only fails on the Zidoo Z9X 8K.

This is also the only file I've encountered that Zidoo failed to play.

Does anyone know if it is possible to put the 4k ultra hd logo on all movie covers as shown in the photo?

    Thanks

Only manually with a program like Tiny Media Manager: https://www.tinymediamanager.org/
While TMM will present you with a selection of artwork, you'll still have to manually select the poster with the 4K UHD logo yourself. Potentially very time-consuming depending on how big your collection is. I'm kind of going through this process myself at the moment.

  17. I read how one user mentioning how the z9x 8k PQ isn’t as nice as the z9x 4k. They mentioned how the colors appear to be washed out compare to z9k 4k version. I was wondering if any other users experienced this?

Absolutely not. PQ is better on the 8K models. Colours are in no way washed out.
