MP7 does not play MCH audio via SACD ISO or DSF files. So for my usage it was useless which is why it is in my bedroom as basically a hard drive source over my network and I had to buy the Z9x8K in order to play my music library in my living room with my atmos setup. I bought the Z2000Pro specifically to play SACD and 5.1 DSF files which it does not do in MP7. Using a 3rd party app is not a solution.

I have zero interest in using Kodi or ZMDC. If I wanted to use those I would just use my Firestick or one of my other media streamers.

I know you are trying to help which is appreciated but product has never worked as advertised which IMO there is no excuse for this issue when the prior model and the post model both play the MCH files in their respective built in music players.

I had zero issues with video quality or stereo audio performance from my Z2000Pro. If those were my only uses I would still be using it as my daily player. I like it a lot to be honest. But that one issue really pisses me off. I spent a lot of money for me that I am legit still paying off and I can't even use it for what my main reason for buying it was.

  2. It's too bad that it doesn't work for what you needed it too, especially if it was advertised to. My philosophy, FWIW, if I'm considering a piece of equipment that features x, y, z items, I wouldn't buy it unless known that those features work (and not as a promised update) if they were important to me. Unfortunately, it happens too often that the manufacturer ultimately doesn't deliver for one reason or another, either within their control or not.

Yeah in this case, there wasnt really a way to know because the prior models had no issues and there werent any reports prior to my purchase. It was only after I got it and tried to play the MCH files that it was discovered. Bit of a bummer to say the least. While a big issue for me personally, overall the device is great IMO. Like I said I would still be using if video was my only usage.

Hello for about 7-8 months there was no update for my Z9X Pro, I wanted to ask is there still something coming?

I would like to have emby support, at the moment I use the system player from zidoo. The internal player from emby can play everything hdr10+ dolby vision on my Z9X Pro. But the player does not automatically switch the Hz frame rate. According to emby I should contact you.

  7. He probably means likely no update to accomplish what you want.

After more testing, the screen still flashes on scene changes when running VS10 SDR and HDR, so it seems its a deeper issue than I realised.

I ran some problematic files through DoviTool to convert to Profile 8.1 as a test, but now it just plays in Dolby Vision mode, but with the inverted colours you would expect from a non-DV compatible display. Maybe I got the conversion wrong but it seems like more and more DV content is causing issues on the Zidoo.

No I dont consider upgrading to the amlogic range a solution, I bought a Z2600 to play Dolby Vision content.

Back to the Shield Pro again I guess.

I mean I would be very surprised if we see any future f/w updates for these older gen devices.

Die Z9X Pro ist nicht alt, meine Z9S damals hat auch schon lange Updates bekommen.

Die Hardware des Z9X Pro ist leistungsstark genug für die nächsten Jahre.

  11. Unfortunately, just because the hardware is powerful enough for the next few years, doesn't mean the manufacturer is going to continue to update it - especially when they want to sell the new units. Not just Zidoo, but a multitude of other companies do the same thing.

I think zidoo should first patch the Z9X Pro so that everything works properly before flooding the market with further BETA versions of boxes.

If you get flashing on scene changes on DV content this is a faulty or mistimed RPU and if you output in VS10 SDR or VS HDR you will still see the same issue because the RPU is used in both cases.

If you get "inverted" colour issues when converting to Profile 8 that probably means the original file was Profile 5 which uses a colour space that is incompatible with any other profile. You can't convert Profile 5 to Profile 8 just by changing the RPU with dovi_tool.

Yes I found that after the fact. I'm now resorting to actively avoiding profile 5 where possible to further mitigate this issue, but the RPU problems will remain in many cases.

I'm just not sure why the issue only seems to crop up randomly, and goes away after a stop/start, i know I've seen people on the doom9 forum talking about RPU sync issues and applying a delay to the DV data with DDVT to re-sync it but why would it crop up randomly, instead of on all files with a delayed RPU? or is there some kind of sync or offset that is supposed to be part of the data this is ignored or mis-processed randomly?

There are a lot of people dicking about with RPUs these days. Some know what they're doing, some don't.

I use direct BD rips and sometimes encode my own content using Staxrip and convert to profile 8 - I know what I'm doing and have honestly never had a single issue with RPU timing - whatever's happening here it's a file issue but that's not to say it can't be fixed.

If you can PM me a sample where I can replicate the issue I can pass to the devs to see if they can do anything.

All of my direct UHD BD rips, which i do with MakeMKV work perfectly fine, naturally.

It's the TV shows from "other sources" that have been problematic due to some streaming services and scene release groups doing pure P5 releases instead of hybrid releases, P5 usually works fine, but that is the only format that opens up the RPU sync issue with some files.

I have changed my setup to pull releases with DV+HDR, so they will never be Profile 5. many are now becoming available with the newer hybrid profile that has DV+HDR10+ which is nice for the future.

I've done a full reshuffle of my 4K TV library and removed everything that was P5 and had it automatically pull down new copies in more compatible formats, I wanted to do that anyway because it's easier for the other people that use my media library that might not have P5 compatible gear. Since it only takes me a couple of hours to download a few TBs these days I'd rather fix the problem for everyone, rather than just trying to patch the problem for my one player.

Personally I've never had an issue with Profile 5 - in my experience it's usually when people start pulling the RPU from a P5 streaming release, converting it to P8 and gluing it to an HDR disc release and creating a hybrid P8 that problems tend to happen - particularly since if a disc is released in HDR10(+) only, that's a creative decision, and it hasn't come from a Dolby Master/Mezzanine and wasn't graded in a Dolby Vision workflow.

It seems the Z9X Pro is having trouble accessing OpenSubtitles.com. I haven’t been able to download any Korean subtitles for quite a while either. Hope this gets fixed soon.

What about the new video-codec "AV1"?
I can't play files with this codec, on Win-player VLC can playback this file(s) correct.

    The Zidoo should support AV1.
I have AV1 running on my Z2600 with no problems at all.

What are the details of the file?
