I think you're a bit confused...To have the Tidal application you don't need to have the "G" version of the firmware. You'll find it already embedded in MP8 ready to be downloaded together with Spotify, Apple Music, etc. etc.

Sorry, would you mind telling me if you are using the normal verison or G version? thx

Correct. The one in the Screenshot is what we call "TIDAL Connect" - it's pre-installed with the Firmware

I too am using the latest Firmware for my UHD8000 namely: - v1.1.60_G

No, the one circled in red is not Tidal connect, it is the normal Tidal app and with it Dolby Atmos works very well for me.
You can find the Tidal Connect app by scrolling down and it says "Tidal Connect"

Ahh, my bad sorry. But yes I too can play Atmos titles with the one circled. I'm bound to ask how did you install the Tidal app on a non-G firmware ?

Yes, this one will be more convenient. I will update the thread. Btw, our engineer want to ask that when you using your player to play local video file, if there is Dolby Atmos sound output to your system?

The "G" version of the firmware is only used to log in to Google Play. The applications you see inside the MP8 are pre-installed inside the firmware even in the non-"G" firmware version

The UHD8000 is connected to a Denon AVC-A1HD via the audio-only HDMI port. With the internal Tidal app, the amp encodes everything to Dolby Digital Plus and works perfectly. With Tidal Connect, it doesn't!

Yes I know all that (you mean Google Play Store), I just mistook the app that was in the above Screenshot.

I have had another play around with my UHD8000 and can easily get TIDAL Atmos tracks to play perfectly using the internal app like yourself - my Yamaha RX-A1070 Receiver shows "Atmos/DD +" and on my TV the Tracks are showing they're playing in Atmos. This is via the "Main" HDMI port on the Zidoo. Tried a lot of fiddling around using @Eki Shaw 's guide above using the Tidal Connect app but again no Atmos, TV shows Flacs are playing - 48kHz IIRC and PCM shows on my Receiver. Tried then using the Control App but again I could not get Atmos tracks to play correctly and I did try using the "Audio" HDMI too.

All very confusing but at least I'm happy I can get Atmos tracks to play and I hardly ever use the Control app - I prefer my TV. But the internal Tidal app (not the Connect one) is different to how I'm used to seeing it displayed - presumably this is the so called "Tidal ATV App" ? I much prefer the normal app - is there no way to install this instead ?

We are in the exact same situation. Unfortunately no, you can't replace the app (ATV)

Phew! I am pleased we're on the same page but disappointed we cannot have the standard/normal Tidal App - although I've disconnected it now, I am sure my Z1000 Pro had the normal app, but with that unit I always used UAPP so I could be wrong. I cannot install UAPP via Play Store as, as with a few other apps that I've tried, particularly BBC iPlayer, it does not allow you to do so because of the device I'm trying to install it on!

This bugs me because I'm certain it is because my UHD8000 isn't a "Certified" device. Maybe @Eki Shaw knows ?

UHD8000 is not an ATV device

Could you explain the implications regarding what you say, cos as you've guessed, I'm confused now - thanks

ZIDOO is not a standard ANDROID TV device. We have made many optimizations for media playback at the SDK level and with some interfaces. If there are compatibility issues with UAPP, UAPP would need to make the necessary adjustments. We can try to check UAPP, but this is not a promised feature. Our integrated streaming services and built-in MP8 are already good enough. You can see how much effort we’ve put into making it a turnkey device, a more serious media player.
UAPP often faces compatibility issues due to various permission reasons because it requires exclusive USB access

This should be inscribed at the top of the forum.

Lol - a bit of a joke tbh and wouldn't suggest you advertise this point. I bought my UHD8000 as I was informed it can do everything the DMP-6/8 units can do and more. UAPP plays TIDAL easier and has more playback settings than MP8. But I will check with UAPP to see what they say.

The large-capacity hard drives tested this time were provided by Seagate, Toshiba, and Western Digital, and have been officially tested by Zidoo. This test primarily focuses on the compatibility of hard drives with the Zidoo 8K media players (including the Z9X 8K, Z30 PRO, Z3000 PRO, and UHD8000), adding support for certain hard drive models with capacities ranging from 18TB to 24TB.

The tests have confirmed that the Zidoo 8K series supports the Seagate Exos series X24 24TB, X22 22TB, X20 20TB, X18 18TB, as well as the Seagate IronWolf Pro series with capacities of 24TB, 22TB, 20TB, and 18TB.

A big thanks to Seagate, Toshiba, and Western Digital for providing the HDDs and technical support.

Does this mean that we can use them in internal or in external without issue when we have over 18TB of content on the HDD?
