Great explanation! That explains a lot.

My only minor gripe now is the HDMI handshake on video files. I have a Trinnov processor, which takes 4.5 seconds to lock onto an audio signal, so the first 4.5 seconds of every TV episode is lost. Certain players (Blu-ray, Shield, Tivo), you can pause the stream immediately after hitting play and wait the 4.5 seconds and the audio locks on. Sadly, that doesn't happen with this player. It resynchs the audio whenever you chapter skip, fast forward/rewind, and pause. I love in the audio section how you can delay the player output when a new audio signal is detected and that works great. I wish the same could be done on the video side--let the audio synch, then start the video. Does this make sense?

Yes, makes absolute sense and the previous Zidoo players used to do this - you had a very configurable delay to account for HDMI sync.

I asked for the same on these players but was told that it wasn't included because the HDMI sync on these players is so fast - and it is, it's definitely better than the Realtek players... But... that doesn't take into account intermediary HDMI sinks (as opposed to syncs!!) sitting in the chain - Amps, Processors, HDFury devices etc...

So yes, you're absolutely right, these players need a configurable start delay the same as the older boxes - I just have to convince the devs that this is the case...

Well, I'm reviewing the player for Soundandvision.com and I reached out to my contact about this very issue :) Hopefully it's something that can be added at some time.

Another quirk is how the database reads titles--definitely not as refined as Plex. I have just over 1,200 titles ripped and Plex misread only a handful. I had to manually match well over 200 with Zidoo (exact same naming system for all files). Thankfully, it's really something you only need to do one (fingers crossed).

Tricky one this - people's mileage seems to vary - for example I have several dummy libraries for testing (small video files with valid movie names) - the largest is 4000 titles, and I get better than 99% hit rate.

The scraper uses TMDB, so as long as the name is the same as the TMDB entry it's usually fine - it has trouble with punctuation sometimes and occasionally numbers, but on the whole, with sensible naming, it works well for me.

Once it's done, I always export NFOs so next time it's 100% perfect.

I see a lot of comparisons in many ways (not just scraping) with Plex and Jellyfin et al, but at the end of the day, it's not Jellyfin or Plex or blah blah blah - it's HT, and it does what it does very well.

    If it didn't, I wouldn't use it.

Can you export a NFO today and then add titles to the library at a later time and then export again (overwriting the old NFO file in the process)?

Yes - When you export NFOs (and artwork) they are stored in the corresponding movie folder.

When you add a new movie, you simply export again - I always untick "Overwrite older files" because I have edited some of my NFOs and don't want them overwritten, so this just updates the new movie on its own.

Sorry but from the screenshots you posted, Dolby Atmos with Tidal connect does not work for you. You should read 6 channels on the display and not two channels and instead of the word PCM you should have the word ATMOS. It is the same problem I have. If I use the internal Tidal app instead, everything works perfectly and I get Dolby Atmos.

This is an extremely helpful Post - thank you so much @Eki Shaw.

I agree with what @enry184 has said above though and I need to do some more testing using the 2 Apps. What I'm confused about is what you mean by TIDAL "ATV" APP ? When I search PlayStore, I only get the normal TIDAL APP which I've downloaded and use but haven't a clue what you mean by ATV

Hi, what I mean is Tidal APP version that is specially designed for TV, if you search TIDAL on Google Store on our player, then the TIDAL APP should be the one.

As far as I can tell I have the normal one - I'm not in front of my TV right now so cannot check, but my Phone suggests it's the normal one - I'll check later, thanks
