Does all new Zidoo 8k mediaplayer plays DVD iso files with menu or just straight to the movie?

The DVD ISO will be played through navigation mode.

  3. Does Emby or Jellyfin app have Recommend section that shows you randoms picks of movies and tv shows to look. I have a lot movies and I would like a pick for the day

  4. Does it have a recommended section like HT5

With current FW DVD ISO menus are not working right. I've converted some to MKV and they work fine that way.

I have 9,500 photo.jpg files in a folder and want to play them in slide show mode.
-X20 Pro plays , UHD3000 not plays, UHD5000 not plays. Can someone test with UHD8000?
(I test a folder has around 1000 .jpg files then all the Zidoo model will play slide show, 2000 .jpg files or more they can not play slide show)
PS. Dune HD any model plays 15,000 files (or more) in a folder with slide show mode fast and smooth.

I have the UHD8000 and I can't get HDR metadata to output (MaxCLL and MaxFALL). There's no option in the setup menu to enable this. Am I missing something?

If the file has it, MaxCLL/FALL and min/max MDL are passed to the display by default.

What makes you think they aren't?

I think it's the same as navigation mode but different name only.

It's not showing up on my JVC projector (RS3100). I know the data is in the file because I can see it if I click on the info button on the Zidoo. It's weird that it's not showing up though.

JVC uses that data for tone mapping.

That's odd - can you post a MediaInfo report of the file?

Will this work? Couldn't figure out how to get all of the data exported (new program to me).

    Yes, that's the one!

Ok - so there's no value MaxCLL, MaxFALL info in that file, only MDL, which is why it doesn't show up. That's not uncommon.

In the absence of MaxCLL/FALL, the PJ will use MDL (which doesn't get reported in the PJ info screen above), and in the absence of that it will assume 1000/400.

Is it something I'm doing wrong in my rips? I went through a bunch of titles and nothing showed up....let me go through some more and I'll report back. I appreciate the help.

I guess it depends what you use, but I doubt it - I use MakeMKV and that works fine.

Out of interest, I just checked my copy of Star Trek - possibly not the same disc source as I'm in the UK, but the disc was encoded with the same version of Ateme Titan as yours and I have no MaxCLL/FALL info either.

As I say, it's not uncommon, especially with older titles.

Yep...I must have just grabbed all the wrong movies. I tried a few others and the info data is there. Maybe it's the way Paramount was encoding the films. I really appreciate the help!

Since you seem to be the resident expert, why do DVD rips (MKV) get output as 4K even if match frame rate and resolution is setup? 1080p rips output at native as well as 4K, but for some reason 480p discs go out as 4K30.

The vagaries of the HDMI spec.

DVDs are encoded in either 720x576 25 fps (PAL) or 720x480 29.970fps/30fps (NTSC. Sort of) and usually, for movies at least, progressively.

The HDMI spec only allows for 720x576 50fps interlaced and 720x480 60fps interlaced so in order to view at the correct frame rate (and progressively where applicable) the only option is to upscale to at least 1080p (720p also only supports 50/60fps over HDMI).

It's arguably detrimental to allow the player to upscale to 1080 and then the TV to 4K, so it makes more sense to upscale directly to 4K in the player.
