ZIDOO 8K Media player coming soon.

I can't wait till I get my Dune 8K Player! After the Zidoo Z9X 8K was such a flop

 

I’ve always said that - I was incredibly sad when Zappiti went under, particularly after having some very nice conversations with Reme, the owner, not long before - competition is essential otherwise complacency reigns.

I might knock Dune on occasion, and partly, admittedly, this is to annoy the trolls, but their presence is very much needed in the market.

Zidoo have a far more cohesive and holistic approach, which is really coming together in these players - Dune take a more piecemeal approach, but their devs are undoubtedly clever.

Zidoo are far more configurable and far more HDR agile, and I’ve always been surprised that Dune haven’t copied this, but for the average user it really comes down to the interface - do you like the “My First Media Player” look ( ) or do you prefer a more cohesive environment which is excellent in its infancy and will get even better over time.

I have several versions of both players - I think you made the right choice.

But above all and the thing that surprised me a lot in a positive way in the UHD8000 was the versatility and functionality that it has as an audio streamer, it works exactly like the eversolo range and the app is identical, it works really well and in addition it has the cast and I can see from the tablet or smartphone, the entire zidoo menu without turning on the TV. In this aspect, Dune is light years away. The UHD8000 is truly a crazy machine where you have everything in one machine. I think that the UHD8000 can be defined as the definitive digital source!

 

No, latest beta didn't do anything, so I'm back with the Z9X Pro. And everything works.

 

Thank you for that - I had no idea about Casting so will take a look soon - is it easy to set up? Yes the UHD8000 is a marvellous improvement to my Z1000 Pro

 

Just download the Zidoo Controller app and you will see "Cast". The UHD8000 is an amazing machine. I am so happy with my purchase!

 

Thanks for that - I'll give it a whirl. In the meantime could you explain what a "Connect" app is all about? I have both Tidal and Tidal Connect installed. What's the difference?

 

Tidal connect is already installed from the factory. If you use Tidal Connect from your smartphone, you don't need to install any app inside the Zidoo. On the contrary, if you don't want to use your smartphone and want to navigate inside the tidal app from the zidoo menu.

 

Well, these machines share the same socket, and from what i read on the forums, they encounter the same socket issues.
The OS is complete different. Dune basically has a linux OS as their main OS, Android is or run as a VM or container. Therefore you can load whatever alpha/beta firmware, and go back if it messes things up.
Dune also has a 'plugin' section. Now that is a well kept secret and that part is very very interesting.

If you skip all the fanboy and trashtalk, the Dune 8K runs fine.Don't beleive everything written here about it. Since if it was crap, i would never use it now as my main & daily MP machine.
If you like having a zillion options to mess with posters, you should use this zidoo. If you don't care about posters other than the original, but do like efficient scraping, Dune.

and PS, if one is a hardcore Kodi fan/user, i would look elsewhere. You are better off with a cheapo Ugoos or something. that boots with Coreelec or similar.

Played around a bit but noticed Tidal Atmos tracks would not play in Atmos, when using the Connect App via my tablet. Had to playback via the actual Tidal App to get Atmos. Has this been noticed already? But the Atmos tracks sound awesomely

 

Yes, if you want to play Atmos tracks you need to use its internal app. Didn't Tidal remove all MQA and Atmos tracks?

 

Thanks - Tidal abolished MQA in preference to Atmos. It's now well populated with Atmos stuff

 

After going through :
- 3 PopCorn Hour players
- An NVidia Shield
- One Dune-HD player
- 6 Zappiti players

... there was the Neo Alpha (my first Zidoo), and now the UHD8000.

And at the moment, considering what is offered by competing brands, there is no question of going back.

Zidoo is the only brand for the moment, to offer me a serenity of performance that meets my expectations,
associated with a pleasure of use, all within a coherent machine.
When the same company masters both the choices and the design of the hardware, the development of its firmware,
and its applications, it changes everything.
And as long as it is driven by an ambition of quality and performance, we get an ultra pleasant machine.

I sold Z20 Pro and bought Playerone 8k. Also, this player has his childhood diseases I have to admit. But the Zoom function works flawlessly.

 

If you have a car, take a drive through both Radda in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti - breathtaking!
