I am running .75 its very stable but was not to start with I found it was a combination of settings causing my issues play back has been pretty rock solid ever since not sure I want to update it for now.

Curious about forced subs. Some of my movies have forced subtitles. In the mkv file I mark the forced track as forced and default and my z2000 handles it perfectly.

Alright. My turn to speak up.
    1. I have had this problem with 24 fps content on every firmware I've ever had on the Z9X Pro. The problem is intermittent, but I always expect it to rear its ugly head at least once in every movie that I watch. Yes. It's annoying every time I have to pause and play for the frame rate to be normal again. The problem rarely happens when I start playing something, but often happens during normal playback. It drops to about 12 fps and the audio plays as normal. This happens on films in 4K, 1080p and 3D 1080p.
    2. I'm starting to believe this is a limitation on the Zidoo hardware or a limitation of the Zidoo developers' abilities to fix it. @Markswift2003 the problem is not rare. It's often. It's not a "problem with my setup." It's a problem that lies solely with Zidoo. You can't have so many people with the same problem and blame it on user error. Sure, this thread has been taken off topic a frustrating number of times (like VC1, NAS, Powered USB support of external drives), but people are still getting the frame rate drop until pause and play.
    3. I have Gigabit ethernet and all of my content is sitting on a Synology NAS. My laptop has no problem playing back the content. Plex doesn't have a problem playing it back. Choppiness does not exist there. This is isolated to both of my Zidoo Z9X Pros in different rooms in the house. Yes, I have Gigabit switches and routers all the way to the NAS. That should be plenty.
    4. I would be happy to provide the Zidoo Developers a bug log report, but I don't know how to generate one. And even if I did, would they even care to attempt to fix the issue? This thread is how old now (14 months) and everyone is still experiencing the same problem? When was the last firmware even released for the Z9X Pro? Answer: July of last year. They released the 8K model and left the Pro in the dust.
If you can't tell, I'm starting to get really frustrated by the Z9X Pro and the lack of any updated firmware. Not to get too far off topic, but the ISO playback doesn't work and the fact that I can't refresh the NFO metadata yet is just plain stupid.

The difference is that Z2000 when set to automatically play subs will always pick a sub regardless if there is a forced sub or not what I want is to always play the forced sub and not the other sub options if there is no forced sub. However this is not a deal breaker as its easy to manually select anyway so its just nice to have and I will be keeping my Z2000 as it also plays 3D which the new models no longer do my main concern is the unit plays everything back correctly which it does.

Yes that is a very frustrating issue one which I have also experienced as well which sent me on a mission to resolve this problem as there is a few layers to it and can depend on your setup of the storage and the player can you describe how your system is currently configured hardware wise.

I might be misunderstanding. With my z2000, if a movie has forced subs only the forced subs show and it’s automatic. If there are regular subtitles not marked forced they do not show by default, I have to explicitly turn them on. That’s exactly how I want it to work.

Do the next gen players not work this way?

I have recently gone down this rabbit hole again. It’s not ideal, but I found if I disable bookmarks entirely, the problem almost never shows up. This means whenever you play a movie it will start at the beginning, but it’s a small price to pay to me to avoid this glitch that will clearly never even be acknowledged, let alone fixed by Zidoo.

I don’t really ever sit down to watch a movie, stop in the middle entirely, then go back and pick it up in the middle. Worst case just skip ahead chapters later.

I have been running this way now for like a month and have not seen it, even on VC1 encodes that seem to be more susceptible to the problem

Yes this is the way with media players you have to accept the compromises at times they are all like it I have not seen that fix before though to be fair I don't think any of them will fix all the bugs look at the latest NVIDIA shield update lots of reported issues there.

I would also add I avoid VC1 encodes nothing but trouble there its known to cause issues for lots of media players but I do realize sometimes it can't be avoided.

I will take another look did not think they fixed that on the Z2000 I thought it was a hardware issue will take another look when I get a chance.
The next Gen was meant to fix this as it also has a completely different chip-set which I have barely used other than getting it out of the box due to lots of reported bugs with the audio although it does not appear to affect everyone. My older Z2000 works so well at the moment and I am also doing a renovation including rebuilding some of my media room its not been a priority.

Can just agree that this is still happening with Z9X Pro FW 1.0.95 as well, and no it is not the setup, my Z9X shows no flaw, the settings are like a copy from the Z9X.....
So yes, I see it as a common issue, seems time to get the Z9X back in place, what a pitty.....

I reverted to 1.0.70 which has the same flaw, so in my opinion it was never solved....Dolby Atmos is 100% involved in that problem.......Markswift2003 pointed that out from the start

Maybe Zidoo RnD should try to use a setup with ARC to test I suppose it is somehow related...but just a guess

Problem happens when I skip to next chapter often, then stutter appears and after pause, resume it works for a while......

In 1.0.70 i also saw a complete freeze when I started Jumanji next level HDR movie with dolby atmos track, hat do hard reset the Zidoo, afterwards it played "normal"......strange behavior

Would you mind giving us an insight in these combination of "settings" please?

Do you use a snology NAS by any chance for your storage ?

Nope ;-) Asustore and local HDDs tried both same files, same problems

I will see if I can put something together as it appears to me its a combination of settings I am still on firmware .75 and find that each version sometimes requires slight changes to the settings.

I have seen this issue of 'occasional choppy and jerky' playback on start of 24p DV rips my z2000 pro (lastest firmware), if I pause and play it corrects itself.
Happened once in the middle of movie as well when I paused it to go to the toilet and came back hit play and it was jerking away until I paused and played again and it corrected itself.

I tried pausing and playing to see if I could recreate the issue but couldn't - so for me it happened randomly. Not a major issue, but looks like the problem still exists.

I‘m having the same from time to time. No pattern, but always fixed when pressing pause and then play again.

I have not seen this issue for quite some time and but it used to occur in the past. I do recommend that the unit is turned off for at least 2 - 5 minutes once a month.
