I don't disagree with you that an overloaded back end storage system may cause issues when seeking chapters etc. but the system would have to be severely overloaded to cause an issue in serving up a media file for client playback. a 4K stream tops out at around ~100mbs and that is peak not sustained. You would have to have seriously overloaded your nas if its going to struggle to serve a movie file for client playback.

It all depends on many factors its not only about the through put any way I did a write up on this sometime ago and I did originally have many of the issues reported on the forums and decided to go all out and fix them which has led to flawless playback for me this is now one of the top devices I have owned.

I’m having similar issues occasionally. It seems to mostly occur with VC1 encodes. Last night watching ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’ my wife bumped the remote and brought up the bookmark settings. When I went back to the movie the playback was dropping every other frame it seemed but audio was fine.

I tried the following to get the video to playback correctly.
    1. Paused for a few seconds and resumed
    2. Fast forwarded a few seconds
    3. Rewound a few seconds.
    4. Exited movie and resumed
    5. Exited movie and HT app then restarted box
    6. Exited movie, removed power for 30 seconds from box, then reconnected power.
    7. Changed resolution (from 3840x2160 60p) to several others.
    8. Change ‘match frame rate only’ to ‘match frame rate and resolution’

None of the previous attempts cleared the issue. Especially surprised a power reset didn’t clear the issue.

What finally worked was to start a movie in a different native resolution (also HEVC encoded) then go back to the VC1 encoded movie. I do wonder if this was related to the bookmark feature as it did start after we entered that menu.

Also in the last few days I’ve been experiencing random pauses that start after the movie is playing a few minutes. Despicable Me 4 4K was nearly unwatchable the first 35 minutes. I exited and restarted the box several times and still occurred then eventually stopped occurring. I experienced a similar thing with Blades of Glory the night before.

My Plex devices aren’t experiencing this. Only thing I can think of is that updated to the latest HT5 version to address the scraping issue.

    anyone else experiencing this?

I am on 1.0.86 and often after some time watching a movie it starts stuttering (my LAN connection ethernet TV, Zidoo, NAS is 1Gb). After is stop the movie and it resumes the stuttering is gone for around 30-40 min (depends....), not so happy with that but 1.0.95 was even worse with some other parts.......I don't think Zidoo cares about that player anymore.

PS: that behavior is not consistent on all movies, maybe the bug with HD Audio files....who knows

You don't bother to mention anything about the movie files that you are seeing this issue with at all... 4K, regular 1080p blu rays, etc... with that being said, are you seeing the issue with files using the VC-1 codec? That is the only problems with stuttering that i would sometimes experience is with older blu ray titles that used the old VC-1 codec... and even then, strangely enough, the playback would be totally smooth when starting out the title or if I watched the movie all the way to the end in one sitting. But if I used the bookmark resume function, upon startup, stuttering would be evident many times.. I have simply remuxed those older titles to use H264/AVC codec and no longer see any stuttering ever.

I haven't experienced any of the image-freeze-while-audio-continues-to-play woes for over a year on the Zidoo Z9X but recently watched The Deer Hunter 4K MKV on the Ugoos AM6B+ with CoreElec and right at the end of the end credits, it happened.

I did some Googling and found this thread https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/last-seconds-of-some-movies-are-frozen-in-coreelec/53303/8 which suggests that it might be some final frames without any audio track that might be the culprit.

Just wondered if this buffering issue might be the cause of this behaviour when you stop/pause a movie part way through then restart it? Like the player is getting its wires in a twist from being told to stop/pause, then restarted again?

From memory, I've watched The Deer Hunter 4K MKV on the Zidoo Z9X without the image pause at the end before, so it definitely seems to be an intermittent thing. I always tend to watch an entire movie right through the end credits until the file stops playing so wouldn't be surprised if the image-freeze-while-audio-continues-to-play woes aren't often seen by others.

I just want the choppy video to go away. It's so embarrassing having guests over to watch a movie and I have to quickly pause and unpause the movie just to get rid of it.

After about 90 minutes or so of playing a movie from my Z20 Pro, the sound starts to stutter or disappear. However the video stays fine.
    Examples:
    "Ford v Ferrari" (4K mkv)
"My Name Is Nobody" (Blu-ray 1080p mkv)
A simple "pause-resume" solves the problem but it's a bit annoying.
