yes the dune 8 does two things well. Great scraping etc. and the menu is faster though it often does odd long pauses before carrying out a function. But picture quality, no comparison. The Zidoo is much better at this time.

Well, i do not see the difference that much, but never measured it.
And if you are happy with the Z9x, there should be no reason to upgrade basically. The AV1 format is very rare with .mkv's, not sure about the streaming app's.
And the Dune media player world is something you can't compare to the Zidoo me think? At least thats my conclusion after 2 months fidling around.

I have the z1000 pro and of course they are comparable. They are both media players appealing to the same market.

Ok, time to chime in here....want AV1 playback and have an LG OLED?....well, guess what I've been playing with....https://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=321

Lot's of shortcomings to iron out at the moment, but, have to say that the picture quality is pretty amazing.

Only posting this here as it provides RD owners who also own an LG OLED a play to play AV1 etc.

Now then - yes you only chip in when there's something important we should know and thank you for this. Only thing is, despite the amazing information gleaned over the past decade or so, I need to ask what is an AV1 ? I'm still a relevant numpty lol

    You're welcome.

So, pretty much all that the newer BD boxes offer over and above the DR boxes is support for the fairly new Av1 codec, which compression wise is about twice as efficient as H.265.

So, the way I see it, if you have a DR box, and an LG (WebOS based), you have it all pretty much covered, so I thought LG owners would be interested.....plus, I have to say, playback is pretty darn good (no dropped frames, v good picture quailty). However, there are some shortcomings like I said, that hopefuly the Dev manages to sort out (mainly formats for audio passthrough over E-ARC).

I assume you mean BPD boxes as per the forum. So typically are most Films (movies) productions released with AV1 included? When might I be faced with this please? I am perfectly happy with my Z1000Pro and judging from the issues DR owners are having - and they are still waiting for decent firmware, I have no compulsion to change at the moment. But I never say never. ;)

    Yes, BPD boxes.

AV1 encodes tend to come from "other" places, and, at the moment, H.264 and H.265 are still, and will continue to be for years, the prefered codecs for movie encodes.

AV1, is more of a nice to have at the moment, imo.

AFAIK, AV1 is or was ment to be used by the stream giants, to reduce bandwith?
Since is is still a very obscure format, and definitly not common. I made a custom format in Sonarr with AV1 as a high ranking on the total preferred download, but untill now, zero result.

Not sure about what major stream clients prefer and do, so it might be a format that pops op there first?

Yes, they are media players, but the whole OS ( and premium functions) is a different ballgame. Thats what i mean with a different type. The Zidoo is far more user friendly for example, but does not support homebrew add ons. That part is rather big with Russian users, and looking at the Russian forum, that is a very active market/group.

Yes, it was developed as the successor to Google's VP9, but it's only just startng to get some traction outside of streaming.

Which version of Zido is the best and allows you to play Blu-ray movies
With a large file in a good and smooth way?
I encountered a problem last week when I tried to play the movies in Blu-ray format
    dune and the movie fargo
In the dune streamer I had no problem playing these movies

I just spent several hours putting together a new thread that I wanted to post strictly about my Z9X and problems I'm having, and when I tried to submit, it said it was "spam-like" or contained "inappropriate elements". I then tried to PM it to @Markswift2003 but it wouldn't let me do that either for the same reasons. All my post contained was information about my Z9X and my setup, two pictures of calibration graphs on my tv, and two edid-to-txt files. I'm not selling anything or trying to share porn. Can someone please help?

The spam filter is more aggressive and won't let you post links etc until you reach a certain number of posts.

Edit: Well either my 6th or 7th post let it through. I would've guessed 10. Thanks for your help!

Hopefully you can help with my problem whenever you have the time. No rush at all, and again, thanks for everything that you do here. I haven't posted much, but I've read thousands of things on here over the last couple of years and your posts have helped me immensely.

I can see it under my content and click into it, but I don't see it on the main page.

Edit: Nevermind, it's showing up now. Sorry for all of the off topic posts in this thread.
