I think most of us have noticed that the folks from Zidoo don't interact on this forum like they used to. The latest firmware update was released a long time ago, and there's still a lot of issues that need to be fixed! Also, I think that an official list of upcoming features and fixes would be appreciated by many. So, Zidoo, are you here??!!
They have to answer. We are a lot of users not quite satisfied having reported problems and possible improvements. So, Zidoo, are you here??!!
Always here. A lot of development work is going on at the same time, and firmware will be released in due course along with several new streaming services
Good to know you are still working hard to improve an already amazing product range. Can I just make you aware of my thread with examples of improvements I think would benefit us all. http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/tablet-app-design-and-function-feature-requests.97894/
@mirror Can you give any update on the likely release of the next firmware? I know it is software and subject to change, but it would be useful to know if it is days or weeks away. Many thanks!
Thank you Mirror! I hope you will fix the problem with the subtitles. With zidoo x 20, working subtitles are not downloaded at all, and with zidoo Z 1000 pro, the subtitles are without the additional information for which release they are intended for.
@mirror, Will the brightness/ treble be addressed?, seen a lot of people complain about this as it makes certain music types hard to listen to without fatigue. Sure it can be addressed with a firmware update. maybe add some equalizer configs that we can access, Plus the parametric equalizer needs profiles and in depth instruction to get the most out of it
My advise is not to put too many features in the Unit, better make them able to select for the nerds. I also would appreciate improvements for the Remote control. For example wake up the Unit from screen saver modus by touching any button. And change the function for the Play mode button. Ex. Back to Home or previous used window. Make it Smart.
For issues as extreme brightness, or boomy bass, a rule of thumb is: - check your room - check your speakers - There is an EQ... try to lower gain for Freq >= 3500 / 4000 (treble) or Freq <= 400 (bass)
It wouldn't be a bad idea, like having a loudness curve for night-time listening, or for cinema in 2 channels, but they can be found online and can be set personally, however if some experts wanted to post some curves on the forum it would be appreciated, I don't think it's necessary the intervention of the manufacturer, however a minimum of personal fine tuning should be done, but a starting point could be useful.
@rory Now I'm curious, for completeness can you indicate a song or an LP that causes listening fatigue?
A general rule of thumb for product success. Rectify the existing problems first and when those are sorted, then and only then start on adding enhancements. IME, it's pointless putting bling on something that still has basic functionality issues. I'm not specifically talking about the DMP-A6 here. Just products in general. Also, with software based products, development teams need to be mindful that adding extra "features" might unintentionally impact negatively on the base performance or functionality of the device. I'm quite sure that nearly all of us at one time or another would have experienced this with at least one software based product in our lifetime. The ol' one step forward, two steps back scenario..... I was watching a review of the DMP-A6 the other day and the reviewer did raise some interesting and valid points. That review can be found here.
the video doesn't lie, even if it doesn't explore all the positive things, first-time buyers appreciated the improvements, of course those who buy it might think it's an all-round mature product, in terms of library management it isn't, and I wouldn't recommend it for this use, but for online providers it is more than satisfactory. Maybe Auralic is better, the node that I had 3 years to see highlighted the song that plays on the album. Instead I notice an increase in dissatisfaction on the DAC side, which I find curious.
I have over 33,000 tracks on my DMP-A6 stored on an internal 4TB SSD and I've certainly run into library issues. Displaying album artwork is painfully slow even though I've limited the size to a maximum of 600 x 600 pixels and file sizes to about 100kB or smaller. Sometimes it takes the DMP-A6 up to 1 minute to display the album cover after the track has started to play, even though all the files are correctly tagged the search function can't always find the track, album or artist I'm looking for. I noticed a couple of other errors such as using the track filtering function for MQA files. A search on my DMP-A6 shows 4 tracks as MQA but only one actually is MQA encoded. Still a few bugs in the firmware even after all the updates.
Florence and the machine lungs album, most tracks by oasis, basically anything with high pitch and high cymbals
