A factory reset is a fairly common action to get the defaults back and not to be called risky. If it does not work then an Emergency FW reload is needed. Never seen how this actually works for DMP-A6. The real last resort is JTAG flash overwrite using special HW tools (to be done by a real specialist). This is how it is initial loaded in the factory.
The leading question would be "Did it do this immediately after the firmware upgrade or sometime thereafter?" If the latter, I might suspect the rotary encoder used for the volume control has become faulty. It's entirely coincidental but not impossible. Components do fail, but in consideration that the DMP-A6 is a relatively new product to market that would be disappointing IMHO with respect to manufacturing quality control. Just a side question - How long have you owned your DMP-A6 and do you raise and lower the volume with the rotary control often? I'm not suggesting you broke it but more as an insight to the durability of the rotary encoder. Considering the lowering and raising of the volume work perfectly using the app and the BT remote control kind of suggests to me it's more likely to be a hardware related issue with the rotary encoder than a firmware issue. If it was firmware related everyone who installed v1.2.12 would be having the same problem. I haven't upgraded to v1.2.12 yet, but plan to do so soon. I'll post my observations.
Ever since v1.2.12 upgrade (about a week ago?), audio has hiccups, stops for seconds then resumes in most cases. Once in a while, I have to hit play again. This happens regardless of the source, internet radio or Spotify Connect. It seems this hiccup occurs immediately after power startup. After a couple of hiccups, audio becomes much more steady with no interruptions.
You restarted the box an extra time after the upgrade? I always do this as upgrades are known to pollute the memory a bit. A clean restart is always advised.
I power off/on several times a day. And it's definitely DMP-A6. Internet radio just stopped playing just now. So, switched over to RaspberryPi and it's ok. Actually, since a very long time, I've never really had issues with rpi and the sound with DigiOne is hard to beat.
Hi, thanks for the new firmware. The problem that I pointed out earlier appeared again. In the Android application, the names of artists and songs in the Play queue list are not completely displayed, see screenshot. It is a tablet with a 10.2 inch display.
Indeed a very important question! I’m too scared to do a reset since everything works fine for me now.
A factory reset only resets all the settings, but does not delete anything from the internal M.2 SSD. You probably will have to add your music folder(s) again in the 'Music\Library' settings, but your physical music will not be deleted.
