It would be great to also have a VS10 SDR BT2020 for the projector community.

Ah. That's why it looks washed out (grey blacks) on my HDR10 Samsung.

Hopefully this will get fixed pretty quickly. Zidoo seem to be on the ball at the moment

Just trying my new Z9X, it’s unwatchable with LG C9, constant black screens...

As well as this, Dolby Vision MEL mkv created from a UHD BD with makemkv 1.5.2 play in Dolby Vision, but the color is wrong same as on the Nvidia Shield, FEL titles created with 1.5.2 only play in HDR.

I have a small media pc with Kodi 19 on a LG C8 oled, all settings to play in full range. Now with Zidoo icw with the LG C8, would you advise to run full range (0-255) too?

Absolutely agree, but I have a sneaky suspicion it's not part of the Dolby spec for VS10.

I tried sending an EDID with BT.2020 colour but no HDR to VS10 and all I got was passthrough.

All BD and UHD BD content is encoded in limited range so should be viewed at 16-235 (equiv to 64 - 940 in 10-bit).

It's all a bit up in the air until the devs tie it down which I have 100% confidence they will.

Does anyone know how to reset Z9X to default setting?

My system is Z9X -> Anthem MRX720 (Dolby Vision caompatible) -> LG OLED65C9. When I set HDR in Z9X to Dolby Vision VS10, there is no picture on the TV. The TV seems to accept the signal, but no picture. Does anyone knows what is going on here?

As a Qled owner I assume that there is no advantage of the DV processing in this MP? Or is there some upscaling advantage?

Can you try different DV modes and see if it changes? There are different bit depth available and also DV sinned RGB and BT.2020. See if you can get a picture with any of them. Also, try connecting the Zidoo directly to your TV and see what modes are working for you.

The DV VS10 engine will process the HDR video and send it as HDR10 to your TV if you want it to.

So did some more testing, my Zidoo is connected through my Dennon AVR to my LG C9, all 4K movies at 23.976hz produce constant black resync screen.

Gemini man 4K DV at 59.976 is fine, no black screens...

Strangely 4K mkv of Seven World's One Planet (BBC) which reports as 23,976 is fine, no black screens apart from the original synch.

could it be a high bitrate problem with 23.976?

Tried some older mp4 Dolby Vision files created with DVDfab, Casino Royale plays back fine with DD5.1 audio, colors look perfect, no over saturation.

The same file with DTS-HD audio muxed in (mp4 mux) will not play (green screen), these files play perfect on the shield or LG oled via Plex.

As my previous post, still seeing Red push in Dolby Vision MKV files, same as the Shield.

** edit it seems the black screen only happens when outputting Dolby Vision @ 23.976, I can’t reproduce it at HDR10 23.976 output, just watched 30 mins of Aladdin (2019) in HDR10 not a glitch, as soon as I change to VS10 or LLDV the black screens kick in, :(

I too have a Samsung QLED - when you say "The DV VS10 engine will process the HDR video and send it as HDR10 to your TV", do you mean it will process SDR video and send it as HDR10 to your TV? Otherwise I'm not sure what you mean exactly - could you explain a little more please - I'm waiting for my Z1000 Pro and trying to keep up with everyone's extremely helpful feedback - thanks

  13. I had already asked this question on the other discussion but, they diverted me here .....

I will be delighted if you can answer me.

My post already put on arthra discusion was this:

    Good morning,
sorry for the inconvenience, for those who are testing Z6x, it would be kind enough to give me an idea of the Audio / Video performance .... (which I know, compared to the Z9s for example) ......

I ask you why, ok, browse the disc menus to use kody, have an excellent HT3, but these are things that for me are secondary to all the video quality and the audio quality ...

If you haven't been able to make a comparison yet, I'll wait when someone can do it.

Wishing you a good weekend. cordially, Andrea.

    Seriously? OMG.

At first I thought the culprit is Anthem.

And also setting Z9S to 12bit 4:4:4 made my FIBBR Ultra Pro (Fiber optic HDMI cable 4:4:4@60Hz) goes insane. The indicator blinks green and blue and no picture. I have to use another cable instead.

Yes, but it should only flash with DV content and not the issue you are seeing.

When VS10 is enabled, everything gets output as HDR10 (when your TV supports that). This applies to SDR as well as HDR content. Even HDR10 gets processed by VS10 and then output as HDR10. It seems that it not only applies tonemapping but it’s more like a completely different decoding engine as banding for example is gone.

    Thanks. Confused though - SDR to HDR10 = marvellous :) : HDR10 to HDR10 ??????????? : and what about HDR10 to HDR10+ ?

But why should you output everything as HDR even just normal 1080i/p?
Is it that better than output as it should originally be?
Yesterday my Z9x was delivered and the image quality is stunning, better than playing the same files with my Apple TV with infuse although the image quality of YouTube and Netflix is better on the Apple TV.

    I have put it on:
    4K 60 Hz
    match framerate and resolution on
    HDR auto
    Colorspace 16-235

There are some settings where you can choose the output for 4K, 1080, etc, put them to 4:2:0 10 bit.
Are above settings correct or did I miss something important?

btw my television is a Panasonic oled FZ800 (HDR and HDR+ but no DV)

For me still have the need of having 2 mediaplayers :)

The Z9x upscaling is great better than my TV I have disabled resolution changing and let the Zidoo upscale all 1080p to 4k.

As for SDR to HDR/ DV it looks okay but I am not a big fan I won't be using that.

And HDR10 to HDR10 using the VS10 engine will lead to double tone mapping on displays that dont support HGiG. This was also an issue when Madvr was performing tone mapping. It's not recommended there I don't see how this is different.

VS10 is made from Dolby, so they will not convert anything to HDR10+ as its a competing format.
HDR10 to HDR10 with better processing via VS10.
