Just received my Z9X 8K and loaded the G version of the firmware. For Amazon Music, I'm noticing that the Ultra HD files are all down converted to 16bit 48Hz for playback regardless of native file resolution or the device output selected. Is this a limitation imposed by Amazon (I'm not finding any app settings that would allow this to be adjusted), the device (when connected to my Topping D50S DAC, it's showing 32bit 768Hz as the DACs limitation but nothing about any Z9X capabilities) or am I just missing something in the settings that would allow the native file bitrate available via Amazon Music to be passed through via USB?

 

Good question about Amazon music, but let me add an additional question:
Can it play Atmos on Amazon Music?

And one more question to those of you, who use Atmos on Tidal:
Are the Atmos tracks much lower volume than the stereo tracks?

 

The Zidoo does not play Atmos via Amazon Music currently.

Atmos tracks are lower in volume than stereo in pretty much all apps regardless which one you use. You always have to bump the volume up at least in my experience. Tidal, Apple Music, Amazon Music. All are mastered with much greater dynamics and require boosting the volume to match the stereo version unless the app allows for volume matching.

 

I didn't think they were but after accidently leaving the volume fairly high after playing an Atmos track the following PCM track nearly blew me over from my speakers lol! But I'm exaggerating - the difference isn't night and day but there's a difference. Atmos via my UHD8000 is superb though and I'm using Tidal. Indeed all the sound coming from my UHD8000 is per se quite simply brilliant though

 

It´s a pity that Amazon Music Atmos is not supported, for whatever reason.
Anyway I will never understand the low volume, which btw. is very extreme when using a Fire TV Cube gen.3. If the reason is higher dynamics, which is what I read everywhere, then the loudest section should be as loud as in stereo, but in my experience that´s not happening. It´s just lower volume and sounds "anemic ". Then the problem also is that Amazon mixes stereo and Atmos in one album. That´s really crazy, since the volume differs from track to track so much that you either have really low volume Atmos tracks or you destroy your speakers as soon as a stereo tracks comes.
What I don´t understand that the same Atmos track on BluRay sounds loud and dynamic and just great, while on Amazon Music or Tidal it´s low volume. Is one "mixed" in "Atmos" like a movie (BluRay) and the other one in "Atmos Music" ? If yes, what´s the purpose for the listener? I know, Atmos Music on Amazon is only Dolby Digital+. But that´s the case for all streaming videos, as well. And those are sounding with great volume, similar to a BluRay, maybe with a bit lesser dynamics.

Anyway, I really hope for a device that an stream Atmos on Amazon Music, preferably an Eversolo.

 

Believe it or not I subscribe to Amazon Prime wafaik includes Amazon Music - it certainly used to. IMHO Tidal is way better but have never tried Qobuz

 

When using the music player app, is there a way to scrape (or re-scrape) information for individual albums like there is for movies in HT5? The music player app does not find any album information for a large portion of my music library...

Hi All,

Trying to adjust information of my HT5 on my computer, I don’t understand why on my web based poster wall when I modify a poster a fanart, or any information, this modification is not taken into account on the files. I mean if I refresh the page modifications disappear.

Files are located on a SAMBA share. (2 HDs in the UHD8000 and 6 more on USB station)

EDIT : I find a solution, it seems there is a bug, the way to change the poster of a movie you need to REMATCH the movie in the web based HT.

 

Web Based Home Theater improvement !!

1 - It would be a reel gain if we could upload our own Posters or Fanarts via the web interface.
2 - It would be useful to add manually IMDB or TMDB notes (some movies have not these informations)
3 - It would be great to open the location of a movie in the file explorer.
4 - It would be a good idea to have the choice to open a movie on the computer via VLC for example.

Does this include testing these drives using NTFS with the included SMB Server? I still see file corruption reports using it.

 

I appreciate your efforts in the jellyfin client. I hope it will have a great future. Regarding the quoted sentence: Yes, the discs are played, but is there a chance to open the disc menu? Either directly or from within the played movie? In HT it's possible.

I'm afraid no and personally expecting Zidoo to add it. You've to try any of new Denon AVR featuring HDMI-Quick Media Switching.

 

On a Z30 Pro does anyone use the USB Audio output to connect to a DAC. If so, which of the 3 USB 3.0 ports should we choose?
