Quick question guys. If I put movies in a hard drive and then put it in the bay of the Z3000, can I share the movies in the hard drive on my home server pc network? Or are the movies in the hard drive only available for playback with the Z3000?

 

Yes - switch on the Samba server in network settings.

 

And as expected...Dune is certainly not sitting back and watching! The new Dune HD Max 8K player is coming out! Will this be the top model of Dune?

Cool. Competition is good for consumers, I hope Zidoo will keep up and iron out the wrinkles. I’ve put my money on Zidoo so I hope they win.

 

SPMC was "Semper Media Center" - it was an Kodi fork developed specifically for Android by someone called Koying, a former Kodi dev.

He then joined MRMC which was I think attempted to monetise Kodi back in the day.

Development of SPMC stopped in 2018 when Koying abandoned it in favour of MRMC.

Dune used it as an alternative player.

 

Dune and R_Zappitilution use the same OEM to manufacture their boxes - they don't design and manufacture themselves like Zidoo so there is no design language across the range, although Zappitlution tend to look less like a random Alibaba choice than Dune do.

And yes, the internal design is less than optimal, often with little or no thought to signal path etc.

 

Yep, i have it running on my Dune 8K . v21. The normal Kodi version you find in the google app store.
No fork or mod like you need with the Zidoo OS.

It works. But basically the Dune homescreen ( with posters and TV section) is doing very fine. Dune is using a different approach, OS wise. Unlike what is written here, these Dune 8K boxes are well build, and are doing what this consumer want it to do, it plays all your content.
