I solved my movie stopping and restarting problem. It was due to the SMB service settings in my QNAP NAS. It was on SMB version 3. But I set the lowest version of SMB to 2 and the highest to 3 and the problem was solved.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this player. Guess I have become accustomed to electronics having firmware issues. We are all beta users now-a-days. lol

After saving the EDID and reloading it in the custom settings, my color issue seems to be resolved for now. However, it hasn’t fixed the oversharpening problem. To watch some movies, I have to factory reset my Zidoo device. After the reset, it works fine for a couple of days, but then it starts acting weird again, whether I put it on standby or cut the power completely.
I’ve noticed that this issue affects HDR10+ movies the most, resulting in an overly sharp image. It also happens with other files, including SDR and Dolby Vision content. I’m not sure why this is happening, but it seems to be related to HDMI resync issues. I’ve also noticed that people with OLED TVs seem to be experiencing more problems with this.

I just want to raise a concern that I have an LG LED TV. Everything works fine on my LED, but it doesn’t support Dolby Vision. SDR and HDR work fine, but I have an issue with the OLED. The problem I experience is with the color, sharpness, and playback on OLED. I believe there might be an issue with the HDMI not being compatible with OLED. I got Bravia 8 and A84J

For me is the picture it is not at all stable. It works great on my Nvidia shield but not on the Zidoo.

Panasonic LZ1500 OLED here and the OLED tv is fully supported for me

Maybe its a cable issue to the OLED tv ?

I have few cables those work fine with UHd player and ps5. I have checked all of them
Anyway this is second day using zidoo with LED. I start noticing judders (not smooth)on playback in led.
Probably HDCP or keys and handshake plays role here

    Great!

Interesting - I use Western Digital NAS drives with various versions of firmware - I never bother to update on the basis of if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.

So for my 4K movies, one has an SMB setting where you can explicitly say which versions of SMB you want to use - that one is set to SMB2 and SMB3

Another two specify a highest version and that's set to SMB3 so presumably 1 and 2 work too.

For 2K movies three of the drives are much older and a different generation and don't allow you to specify SMB version so goodness knows - possibly just SMB 1.

One thing this does highlight is that if you use a NAS drive, getting the setup right isn't necessarily complicated, but it is important.

    I had the same.
The video just stops and the audio keeps playing.
    I had it only once.
I thought the movie was damaged but when you scroll back a few seconds it plays fine.

I’ve encountered another problem when playback 4k H264 AVC format movie with sound track 1 as DTSHD, it occasionally halted (both screen and sound halt) for 1-2s. When I switch to 2nd sound track in Dolby, it got improved that I’ve only observed a little bit stuttering in 1 frame for almost 2 hours.

    Hello @Markswift2003
My laptop just received the 24H2 update and now for some reason SAMBA doesn't show up in my network drives anymore. Media streaming is turned on as well as the SMB client option under program files. I've tried restarting everything and double checking that SAMBA is turned on in my Z3000 settings and it still won't work.

I know it's more of a windows issue than a media box issue but do you have any ideas that might help get it working again?

Media streaming isn't needed - the box just presents a standard SMB share when the SAMBA server is on.

Try the IP address - in a file explorer window, type \\IP_ADDRESS, eg. \\192.168.0.164.

Or you can use the share name: \\SHARE_SAMBA (not case sensitive) if you haven't changed it from default (which you should do).

I tried the IP address yesterday and it didn't work but now it does, same with just typing \\share_samba. It still doesn't show up as an icon in the explorer window like before, weird.
    Thanks for the help.

Ya, I ended up just mapping it as network drive so I don't have to play around anymore.

I purchased a Zidoo Z9X 8K a few weeks ago. One of the main reasons I wanted it was to integrate it into my Roon experience. Before I bought it, I had a long chat with ChatGPT and came away with the belief that it was Roon Ready. After I received the device and re-read my chat, I realised that it was the Zidoo Z9X that was Roon Ready, not the Zidoo 9X 8K.

I have read that people who are using the beta firmware on the Zidoo UHD 8000 8k have Roon and bit-perfect audio. I have not seen anyone say conclusively that the beta firmware on the Zidoo Z9X 8K adds the Roon experience at a bit-perfect level.

I am not keen to install the beta or the Gdiff. That appears to introduce problems that I do not have time for. I have installed Roon and can use it, although as many of you might know, audio is resampled. My firmware is at the official v1.1.38. I see the beta is at v1.1.70. When can we expect an official firmware update that enables Roon with bit-perfect audio?

And where is the actual download for firmware for the Zidoo Z9X 8K? I can only find the download for the Z9X. I want to know if the OTA version on my device is the most recent.

Oh! That's interesting to know. Do most people prefer the beta to the equivalent G Diff?

i always do the G version ,just in case i want to load any apps off the google store
With the earlier models you could load either ,and even change around on the next f/w release

The new non realtech SOC cant do that ,so its one or the other

The F/w should OTA ,you might have to go in to settings / other / update and tick the boxes to allow OTA betas

Ok. I only see that the G version is v1.1.60_G and the beta is at v1.1.70.

Does that mean I need to update manually:

    v1.1.38 -> v1.1.38_G

    ...and then

    OTA to v1.1.60_G

    ?
