So you want to use VS10 to convert everything to SDR?

    No, everything to HDR:)

Ok, so you'd set HDR to Advanced, all modes, including the GUI to output HDR10 and all VS10 modes On.

This will make sense when you get the 8K and see the HDR settings.

There should be no need for any EDID manipulation and you will be able to view 4K60 content but it will be restricted to 8-bit 4:2:0 so you may see some banding - although I think VS10 may take care of this (I've never tried).

So if this does not work out and I have to do some EDID manipulation, what does it mean?

    It will work out.

Although if you want to get clever, and the Sony is able to be switched manually into its HDR modes, you could output LLDV. That would need a custom EDID.

In that case 4K60 content would be converted to 4K30 because LLDV at 4K60 is 12-bit 4:2:2 which is HDMI2 full chat 17.8Gbps.

I have only one movie: "Gemini Man" in 4K60, so no big loss, and the reason I bought that projector.

Could you elaborate on what changes was made to the audiostack? Quite a few people on the impression thread, mentioned that it has noticably better audioquality than older generations.

If you're talking about HDMI bitstream audio then there is no difference - a bitstream is a bitstream and all conversion is done in the HDMI sink (amp, AVR etc).

If you're talking DACs then it depends on the model.

Ok, thanks. I will be using HDMI so there should be no difference.

I recently got the UHD8000 setup in my system and when playing music having various bitrates (44, 48, 96kHz), everything is resampled to 48kHz output to HDMI main. However, when output is set to HDMI audio, the source bitrate is matched. Is there a way to get bit-perfect output to HDMI Main?

This also raises the question if video files with 96/24 DTS audio are resampled to 48kHz. This would not be a concern if my Anthem MRX1140 was able to combine video from Input 1 and audio from Input 2 - but it can't.

Thanks to MadVR’s founder I’ve finally solved my Zidoo > MadVR Envy HDMI sync issues.

Madshi suggested that the Zidoo be set to use 4:2:2 12 bit for 23/24 hz content and since changing this setting (along with running the UI at 23hz) I’ve had lightning fast and accurate syncs when loading content.

Just thought I’d post in case any other Envy users are having HDMI lock on issues with their Zidoo units.

@Markswift2003 Do the new 8k series of players allow the scrapers to scrape 'DVD order' instead of only 'Aired order' when scraping TV shows?

Sorry, not sure what you mean.

TV series are generally ordered S**E**, eg S01E01, so assuming TVDB has that info correct, that's the order they are presented in.

I can only get HT5 to order shows in 'Aired Order'. For example, the show "Freaks and Geeks"...the show was originally aired in an order that does not make sense chronologically (story-wise). So, when it was released on DVD, it was presented in an order that was different than how it originally aired. On TheTVDB's website, you can choose between 'Aired Order' and 'DVD Order' when viewing seasons of a show.

I would like HT5 to scrape and match the show in 'DVD order'. I have the episodes named correctly and in 'DVD order'.

(Here is the file name for episode 4) --> Freaks And Geeks - S01E04 - Kim Kelly Is My Friend.mkv

However, no matter what I try...HT5 always slots that episode in as episode 4 but with a background picture and episode synopsis that is for the 4th episode that was aired, 'Tests and Breasts'.

It seems as though HT5 will only assign the background picture and episode synopses for the 'Aired Order' of a TV show. Another thread on this forum from another user seems to indicate that creating NFOs with TMM and having the Z9X Pro use NFOs instead of the scraped info does not fix the issue.

I am also using a Z9X Pro and was hoping this behavior was different on the newer units.

Still not sure of the difference, but the Zidoo can only do what the scraped data tells it to.

The way around this would be to create NFOs then you can have any order you like.

Not sure where to make suggestions for future firmware...but a toggle/option for HT5 to scrape DVD order instead of Aired order on TheTVDB would be welcome. A few other scrapers have such an option.

    Thanks!

@Markswift2003 I attached a screenshot of Plex's option to change which order to scrape in my previous message.

    @Markswift2003 or Zidoo tecs

I have a strange issue, I don't understand why some HD 1080p films (approx 50%) are not upscaled by the Zidoo (output infos are 1920x1080). Some are upscaled (3840x2160 on info window)
I know my projector (JVC N7) does the job, but this problem intrigues me.

Do you have any idea ?

    Thanks in advance

Would need a LOT more information to even to begin to diagnose that - settings, file details, screen shots, EDID.

As an example, this can happen if:

    1. The file is 1080p60
    2. 4K60 settings dictate 8-bit 4:4:4/RGB or 12-bit 4:2:2
    3. EDID or settings do not allow 600MHz/18GBps HDMI signals
    4. UI is set to 4K
    5. Auto Frame Rate setting is frame rate only

In that case box has to decide which is best, 1080p60 or 3840p30 (since 60 is not allowed in 3. above) and frame rate preservation is preferred over upscaling.

As I say, this is only an example.

It happened a really strange behaviour during watching the same movie
A black screen with no sound and after the film restared in 2160p (strange isn't it ?)
After a while the film crash.
I started the movie via the file manager.
