Just tried it and the update does allow a freeze frame in the trailer window yay!

 

Olá a todos. Tenho um Zidoo Z9X, versão V6.3.35, há 3 anos e sempre funcionou perfeitamente. Agora não consigo baixar as capas. Descobri este Fórum e tenho acompanhado vários relatos sobre o problema. Então, baixei a versão Z9X_P_v6.4.68_G_202407262045_ota-package e o zidoo_poster_RTD1619B_v4.3.40.apk. Nada foi resolvido, continuo com o mesmo problema. Alguém pode me ajudar? Ou seja: Qual a versão correta a ser instalada e qual o pôster correto? Agradeço a todos antecipadamente.

The HT package for your model is the RTD1619_v4.3.40.apk, the one you indicate the RTD1619B_v4.3.40.apk. is for the Z9X Pro

I'll try to describe the issue again. I leave my Z1000 Pro on all the time, so that as soon as I add titles to the folder I have the Zidoo watch (over gigabit-connected Windows PC using SMB), plus, so I just don't have to wait for the bootup time. This worked well until about December 2024 (the last firmware update I flashed was in August 2024). Since December, if I leave the Zidoo in the Home Theater interface after I'm done watching, eventually it'll either freeze (showing the current screensaver image it happened to be showing - it's not always the same image that it happens on), or sometimes just crash. The next time I turn on the TV and receiver, the Zidoo will either be showing that frozen image from the screensaver, or the TV will show its default image, indicating that there's no signal.

The screensaver images are ones I provided for it to cycle between and use when I originally set it up. Admittedly, I could try having the Zidoo use only it's built-in image/images for the screensaver, although when I pause a video, it never crashes while the screensaver is cycling through the images, which tells me it's not something wrong/corrupt with the images.

I have to power the Zidoo down and back up. I've been working around this issue slightly by just pausing whatever we watch during the end credits. When I do that, the Zidoo never freezes or crashes while a video is paused. I hope this makes it clearer.

So maybe sometime soon I will perform a backup and reset/restore in hopes to solve this. I'm a little hesitant, as the Zidoo admins or moderators on Facebook at the time had me do that before for another issue that actually still happens but is seemingly not related to this one, and it didn't help with that issue:

For a 2 or 2 1/2 years now, the first three seasons of any newly matched series always show the cover for the corresponding season of American Gods. I manually change those covers to the correct one - and the change image selection does automatically show the correct covers to choose from. It was a particular firmware version that this started with, but I don't know if I'd still have a record of what it was, although I might be able to take an educated guess if I looked a list of the Z1000 Pro updates that have been available.

Edit: I'm currently searching to see if there's any Android tool to measure the wear on the eMMC storage, as there are for PC SSDs, because I wondered if the storage was going bad, although that still wouldn't necessarily explain the latest issue with freezing and crashing while staying in the Home Theater interface. Not finding anything, though, especially without root.

 

@Markswift2003, sorry for the delay in responding. I never saw a problem with HT4 or the previously installed HT5 (which is 4.3.05?). I hadn't really used 4.3.37 enough to know if it had the issue or not, so I uninstalled the HT update and restored a db backup. I then checked if the issue existed or not, and as far as can tell it didn't. I then installed 4.3.37 beta, and again as far as I can tell it does not show the issue and stepping to episodes or versions of a movie will consistently update the path. I then installed 4.3.40 and the issue was immediately apparent. So the issue or change in behaviour does appear to be new for 4.3.40.

 

Hey all. I have only updated via the downloaded firmwares for the z1000 pro. I have the latest update installed.

Can I just run this APK from the first post? I've never done updating of zidoo software with apks.

Ok - I understand now.

But I don't have any explanation as I've never seen behaviour like that.

I know what you're saying about screen saver during pause does not show the problem, but regardless of that my first test would be to disable the screen saver and see if it still crashes.

If that works and no crashes, then I'd suspect the image files.

If it still crashes then I'd perform a factory reset - just back up HT before you do and I'd also export NFOs and local art so you have all bases covered - backup info is in the Recommended settings thread, although more detailed information is in the same thread in the AML928S forum.

With issues like this elimination of possibilities is the key and as you say there is always a slim possibility of hardware problems.

Hello. It's difficult to solve. I have a Zidoo Z9X, version V6.3.35 for 3 years and it has always worked perfectly. Now I can't download the covers. I discovered this Forum and have been following several reports about the problem. So I downloaded the version Z9X_P_v6.4.68_G_202407262045_ota-package and the zidoo_poster_RTD1619B_v4.3.40.apk. Nothing was solved, I still have the same problem. Can you help me? In other words: What is the correct version to install and what is the correct poster? Thank you in advance.

Actually, I forgot that I had, but now I'm reminded that I did try disabling the screensaver, and it still crashed. If I remember correctly, I might've even tried it more than once just to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

Thanks, I'll save that information - I've backuped and saved nfo/local art occasionally before, including recently, but I'll read what detail there is just to make sure I don't miss anything.

Matching is very slow, manual re-match takes five minutes or more for a single movie.

 

Even after updating to the latest poster version zidoo_poster_RTD1619_v4.3.40 the posters have stopped scraping from TMDB again, only blank poster thumb nails are displayed.. Moreover, while accessing the about information of the previously successfully downloaded posters is showing blank thumb nails. Is the issue with Home Theater v5.0 or the TMDB source is down?

I have just updated my Z9X with zidoo_poster_RTD1619_v4.3.40.apk
as advised at the start of this thread.

I now have HT5 installed on the start screen and showing in apps in place of HT4. However, when I run it, the screen flashes and returns to the start screen?

I’m still running on firmware v6.3.35 if that’s makes a difference? This was the last OTA update I received.

Any suggestions?

Pretty sure you need to be on the latest firmware for it to work. The last one is 6.4.68. Make sure you have beta ticked on the update screen to get it via OTA. Or just head to the stickied thread and download it manually to USB.

 

OK, thanks Anthony. I’ve never bothered updating the firmware as it always did what I wanted with no issues and new firmware always risks introducing new bugs…”ain’t broke, don’t fix it” attitude.

The thread didn’t say you needed to be on the latest update so I’ll do that and have another go.

My Z1000Pro still runs on 6.4.42, that FW is also the last version for Re-Flashing.
And HT5 4.3.40 works and scrapes on that version.
