    I am confused too
To be able to play DTS i must connect my zidoo directly to my soundbar but all 1080p23,24,25,30 hz disappear

Strange. Locking in EDID file on Zidoo will force this combination all the time. You will lose ability to dynamical adjust sound type if you shut down the sound bar and switch to TV speakers or plug in the headphones.

Owner of a JVC RS1100, just want to be clear on these steps.

    - Followed the LLDV for JVCs pdf.
    - Set Zidoo to Player Led
    - Playback of both SDR/HDR material looks great, but the projector never switches to HDR (high lamp) mode. Should it? Or is one of the benefits that only SDR (low lamp) will be used for all material?
    - On the JVC, Content Type -> Auto (SDR), Picture Type -> LLDV
    - If I manually change Content Type to HDR, no LLDV option
    - Using LLDV for all material will bypass any JVC features like Frame Adapt?
    - Do I have to re-calibrate (AutoCal) for LLDV picture mode?

    Thx,
    Grinch

Are you using an HDFury device or not?

    Nope.

This is the info when playing Bram Stokers Dracula 4k UHD.

So when LLDV outputs from the Zidoo, there is of course no HDR10 SEI message to tell the display to switch into its HDR10 mode.

So you have to do this manually - with LLDV the projector has absolutely no idea what you're squirting at it.

So you have to create a manual picture mode with BT.2020 colour and an appropriate gamma and lamp intensity. That's why it's probably better to output LLDV all the time from the Zidoo and just leave the PJ in that picture mode (that's what I do).

So if you want high lamp, that picture mode has to include it. Personally I never use high lamp - there's absolutely no need.

If you have an HDFury (Vertex 2 or above), it gets a lot more interesting - in that case you can set the HDFury to output an HDR10 SEI to your specification when it sees LLDV on the input so then you don't need to fanny about with manual modes - the PJ thinks it's HDR10 so does what it does normally with HDR10. This is what I do with my Samsung display.

    Hi Markswift
Can you help me understand what is the difference between these Aspect Ratio options (Fit,Fit(DAR),Original,16.9).

I think I'm beginning to understand...

So the output from the JVC is correct (See attached)?

If I manually change it to HDR10, the picture becomes very dark.

    All looks good.

I don't have Content Type on mine, but "Auto" would recognise it as SDR as shown because, as I say, it doesn't know what LLDV is and there is no HDR message.

I assume by manually changing to HDR10 that uses the built in gamma - I'm surprised it looks very dark though.

What I don't know with those projectors is whether you can switch on DTM (Dynamic Tone Mapping - what JVC call Frame Adapt) manually.

One thing worth testing, if it were possible, would be BT.2020 colour with DTM instead of the custom gamma - but as I say, not sure if you can do that without an HDR message on the input.

The way it's supposed to work is:

Fit - Fits the image to the horizontal width of the screen
Fit (DAR) - As above but honours DAR (Display Aspect Ratio)
Original - Presents in SAR (Storage Aspect Ratio)
    16:9 - obvious

But depending on content the results can be a bit funky.

For the most part, they will all show the same since content these days is rarely presented anamorphically.

Set Fit(DAR) as default and leave it at that.

Hi MarkSwift which software are you using to open and edit EDID files. I am trying to learn how to edit EDID files for myself.

Not really relevant since you'll be editing EDIDs rather than creating one from scratch.

Improvements in v1.4 are more for monitors than TV displays and don't affect the CTA Extension where the relevant stuff lives.

All commercial TV/Projector EDIDs I've seen are v1.3.

How to add support for LLDV to my EDID or is too complicated for me. I am learning how to add resolutions and sounds and i had success, but cant see how to add LLDV support for example.

That involves adding a VSDB (Vendor Specific Data Block) in the CTA Extension which is way more complicated than just editing an EDID.

It's a 12 or more byte sequence, the structure of which is covered under NDA from Dolby defining multiple parameters relating to DV as in the example below:

    upload_2024-7-10_10-30-30.png

    It's a big learning curve.
