Thank you for the feedback. Do you believe the newer Z9x 8K should do the job also correctly? If I buy now a new device I'm thinking to buy newer model for more future proof.

8K had a problem with VS10, maybe they fixed it in the latest firmware, ask in the 8K branch.

I would not reference YouTube videos as gospel for noted performance issues/reviews.. Most times they are outdated or just plain wrong.. any performance issues will be documented in the Z9x 8K forum on here.

I had the chance to test a Z9x pro. You are right! VS10 works just great. Shinny picture with nice colors, exactly similar to 1080 version.

I tried to "play" with some EDID presets and I get "No signal" from the projector. I still can't understand why someone change the EDID , while everything seems to be in order.

Continuing tests, I realized that some presets EDID setting, are adding an extra option on the HDR menu. I selected some, and the picture was too bright (obviously wrong) . Also some of these settings have problem with audio (No audio at all).
So, I understand that EDID menu choices, are affect the HDR menu. I din't upload any custom EDID file from 1st post yet.
As I mentioned before the preset: VS 10 engine (SDR) does the job just great. I'm wondering if there is any EDID from the 1st post, which does better job than VS10 engine (SDR) option.

There is absolutely NO reason to mess with other EDIDs or custom EDIDs, unless you know exactly what you are doing! You are not about to find some panacea that makes everything all amazing. The custom EDIDs can be great for specific individual display requirements/resolution/HDR requirements that the current actual HDMI handshaked EDID can not provide and that is all.

    Hello,

I’m looking for an EDID that allows LLDV 12-bit with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. I have an Orbsmart R82, a Denon AVR-X4800H, and a SONY KD-HX9505. Unfortunately, the SONY only has HDMI 2.0b, which can sometimes cause picture dropouts with LLDV 4:2:2 12-bit due to the 18 Gbit/s bandwidth limitation. I would really appreciate it if someone could put together a suitable EDID—thank you in advance!

    Bandwidth is not the problem.

    12-bit 4:2:2 at 4K23~30 only uses 8.9Gb/s which is HDMI 1.4 speed
    12-bit 4:2:2 at 4K50~60 uses 17.8Gb/s

12-bit 4:2:0 is not a legal HDMI mode at 23~30 fps and therefore not available
    12-bit 4:2:0 at 4K50~60 uses 17.8Gb/s - the same as 12-bit 4:2:2.

So for most LLDV 4K movies, assuming you have match frame rate on, HDMI bandwidth is only 8.9Gb/s (That also applies to TV Led Dolby Vision).

    Thanks for your reply!

I mostly use media with LLDV 12-bit 4:2:2 at 4K23, but I keep experiencing picture and audio dropouts (about 3 seconds), even with Dolby Vision. I previously had a DENON AVR-X4500H—same problem with LLDV 4:2:2 12-bit—and over the weekend I tested a Dune HD Pro Vision 4K, same issue.

I’m using high-speed HDMI cables, which I’ve also just recently replaced. After a lot of research, the only possible “source of error” seems to be the HDMI port on the SONY. I was then advised to try 12-bit 4:2:0, but unfortunately that’s currently not working.

Do you have any other ideas?

I know you said it happened on the old Denon, but first thing to do is connect the player directly to the TV and see if it happens.

Check the Denon is set to at least HDMI Enhanced Mode (4K/8K Signal Format) and not Standard, I'm sure it is otherwise 12-bit 4:2:2 shouldn't be available, but worth checking. Turn off HDCP and ARC and generally check settings - but as I say, first thing is to be sure which device is causing it.

Small addendum: it is independent of the media I play — the dropouts also occur when displaying the main menu or the ZDMC media menu. Denon - HDMI 8k is activated. I'll try turning off HDCP and ARC - thanks again!

Ok - so first thing is to try connected direct to the TV.
