Thank you for the feedback. Do you believe the newer Z9x 8K should do the job also correctly? If I buy now a new device I'm thinking to buy newer model for more future proof.

8K had a problem with VS10, maybe they fixed it in the latest firmware, ask in the 8K branch.

I would not reference YouTube videos as gospel for noted performance issues/reviews.. Most times they are outdated or just plain wrong.. any performance issues will be documented in the Z9x 8K forum on here.

I had the chance to test a Z9x pro. You are right! VS10 works just great. Shinny picture with nice colors, exactly similar to 1080 version.

I tried to "play" with some EDID presets and I get "No signal" from the projector. I still can't understand why someone change the EDID , while everything seems to be in order.

Continuing tests, I realized that some presets EDID setting, are adding an extra option on the HDR menu. I selected some, and the picture was too bright (obviously wrong) . Also some of these settings have problem with audio (No audio at all).
So, I understand that EDID menu choices, are affect the HDR menu. I din't upload any custom EDID file from 1st post yet.
As I mentioned before the preset: VS 10 engine (SDR) does the job just great. I'm wondering if there is any EDID from the 1st post, which does better job than VS10 engine (SDR) option.

There is absolutely NO reason to mess with other EDIDs or custom EDIDs, unless you know exactly what you are doing! You are not about to find some panacea that makes everything all amazing. The custom EDIDs can be great for specific individual display requirements/resolution/HDR requirements that the current actual HDMI handshaked EDID can not provide and that is all.

    Hello,

I’m looking for an EDID that allows LLDV 12-bit with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. I have an Orbsmart R82, a Denon AVR-X4800H, and a SONY KD-HX9505. Unfortunately, the SONY only has HDMI 2.0b, which can sometimes cause picture dropouts with LLDV 4:2:2 12-bit due to the 18 Gbit/s bandwidth limitation. I would really appreciate it if someone could put together a suitable EDID—thank you in advance!

    Bandwidth is not the problem.

    12-bit 4:2:2 at 4K23~30 only uses 8.9Gb/s which is HDMI 1.4 speed
    12-bit 4:2:2 at 4K50~60 uses 17.8Gb/s

12-bit 4:2:0 is not a legal HDMI mode at 23~30 fps and therefore not available
    12-bit 4:2:0 at 4K50~60 uses 17.8Gb/s - the same as 12-bit 4:2:2.

So for most LLDV 4K movies, assuming you have match frame rate on, HDMI bandwidth is only 8.9Gb/s (That also applies to TV Led Dolby Vision).

    Thanks for your reply!

I mostly use media with LLDV 12-bit 4:2:2 at 4K23, but I keep experiencing picture and audio dropouts (about 3 seconds), even with Dolby Vision. I previously had a DENON AVR-X4500H—same problem with LLDV 4:2:2 12-bit—and over the weekend I tested a Dune HD Pro Vision 4K, same issue.

I’m using high-speed HDMI cables, which I’ve also just recently replaced. After a lot of research, the only possible “source of error” seems to be the HDMI port on the SONY. I was then advised to try 12-bit 4:2:0, but unfortunately that’s currently not working.

Do you have any other ideas?

I know you said it happened on the old Denon, but first thing to do is connect the player directly to the TV and see if it happens.

Check the Denon is set to at least HDMI Enhanced Mode (4K/8K Signal Format) and not Standard, I'm sure it is otherwise 12-bit 4:2:2 shouldn't be available, but worth checking. Turn off HDCP and ARC and generally check settings - but as I say, first thing is to be sure which device is causing it.

Small addendum: it is independent of the media I play — the dropouts also occur when displaying the main menu or the ZDMC media menu. Denon - HDMI 8k is activated. I'll try turning off HDCP and ARC - thanks again!

Ok - so first thing is to try connected direct to the TV.

    Hello everyone,

I’m using a Zidoo Z1000 Pro (RTD1619BPD) connected to a Formovie Theater projector.
The projector works great, but I noticed that its default EDID does not always advertise the full capabilities (especially Dolby Vision LLDV and sometimes HDR10+ / audio passthrough).

I read that some users here have already created and shared custom EDID (.bin) files for different projectors and TVs to unlock the full potential.

Could someone please share a working custom EDID file for the Formovie Theater that ensures:

    • Dolby Vision (LLDV)

    • HDR10+

    • Full audio passthrough (Dolby Atmos / DTS:X)
It would be very helpful for me and (I believe) for other users with the same setup.

Thank you in advance for your support

The EDID in the projector doesn't change but you may get odd results in EDID timing if for example one box is turned on before another. Presumably you're using an AV amp for sound, so the combined EDID of the PJ and the amp is created by the amp and presented to the source (Zidoo) and if for example the projector is off when it all boots, the amp EDID only is available.

This should sort itself out as sinks (the HDMI chain beyond the source) are switched on and EDIDs become available but you can load your own EDID as a belt and braces approach.

Just turn on all devices, make sure it all works as expected and then export your EDID from the Zidoo and load it back in again as a Custom EDID. That way the EDID is always available to the Zidoo regardless of the state of the external sinks.

    Thank you so much!
Your explanation was very clear and helpful.
I exported the EDID from my Zidoo after turning everything on and then re-loaded it as a Custom EDID, and now everything works perfectly with my Formovie Theater and AV receiver.

Really appreciate your support and the time you took to guide me!

    Hello @Markswift2003

I bought a zidoo z9x pro 2 days ago. I have a Samsung S90C tv. When I connect the zidoo directly to the TV I can only get 1920x1080 60Hz as maximum resolution for the GUI. It's something weird because I have and Nvidia shield tv pro that is always at 3840x2160 60Hz.

I guess is something with the EDID of my TV. Could you please help me?

Attached is the EDID file in txt format.

    Thanks a lot.

For whatever reason, that EDID only supports up to 1080p so the Zidoo is simply doing what it's told.

This has to be a setting in the Samsung if it's directly connected to the Zidoo.

    Code:
    Short Video Block #1
      16 1920x1080p 59.94Hz/60Hz 16:9 1:1 1x . native
      31 1920x1080p 50Hz 16:9 1:1 1x .
      5 1920x1080i 59.94Hz/60Hz 16:9 1:1 1x .
      20 1920x1080i 50Hz 16:9 1:1 1x .
      4 1280x720p 59.94Hz/60Hz 16:9 1:1 1x .
      17 720x576p 50Hz 4:3 16:15 1x .
      2 720x480p 59.94Hz/60Hz 4:3 8:9 1x .

There is a setting in my Samsung that allows you to revert to HDMI1.4 (Settings/General/External Device Manager/HDMI UHD Colour) but it still allows resolutions up to 4K so I'm not sure how that EDID could be produced by the TV, although to be fair it is older than mine.

It's also odd that 1080p59/60 is flagged as the native resolution if it's a 4K TV.

For reference, the EDID for a Samsung S90C is attached.

    **EDIT**

Sorry - I should have looked at this first - that EDID you sent is not from a Samsung TV - it's PNPID (Manufacturer ID) is "RTK" which is a reserved code and is listed as "Do Not Use".

    Thank you Mark.

I have loaded your EDID and now the TV reads correctly when a movie is 4k HDR 24hz, 1080 SDR 24hz, etc. I mean the zidoo and the TV match the correct resolution and frame rate.

Although if I select Auto in the resolution menu, the TV sets in 3840x2160 24Hz, and if I select 3840x2160 60 Hz the TV goes black and I have to press the resolution button on the remote until I get picture again. So it's like the TV or the Ziddo can't go higher than 3840x2160 24Hz.

Anyway the most important thing is that I can watch the movies correctly. By the moment I have selected 1920x1080 60Hz as resolution for the GUI to get a fluid navigation for the menus (3840x2160 at 24Hz is a bit slow).

First thing that puzzles me is that EDID you posted - that's not a Samsung S90C EDID so either something is badly wrong with the TV or TV settings or there was another device in the HDMI chain.

The S90C EDID I sent goes to 4K60 so if the TV shows black screen that's either the TV settings are incorrect or the HDMI cables are not up to the job - again, because the EDID I sent defines 4K60 as a valid mode, the Zidoo is doing exactly what it's told to do, it's the sink that's the problem, not the Zidoo.
