I'm not familiar with that device, but if it's presenting that EDID to the box then it will output LLDV in BT.2020 at 400nits.

It's then a case of setting the projector into HDR mode and maybe considering a custom gamma.

Maybe I didn't understand the question - what has no effect on HDR/DV VS10 engine to convert to SDR?

Does a custom EDID have an effect on the conversion of HDR10 and DV videos to SDR?

Ok, gotcha - no, not at all.

    Hi

I have problems with my uhd5000, need help from experts!

Video files are not playing stably, especially mkv. Bluray menus do not open, on the previous player (zappiti) they opened well. Playing files is like a lottery! Playback can start or a black screen can appear, while the sound can be played for 15 seconds. After receiving a black screen and exiting it to the main screen, nothing is played until the player is completely rebooted!

It seems that there is an inconsistency in the HDMI chain.

    System setup:
    Uhd5000 - Hdmi cable 2.1 certificate, 2m - Denon 8500ha - Hdmi 2.1 optic cable with certificate, 10m - Tcl 98 c805

I tested it directly with the player connected to the TV!

    Firmware: 1.0.86

Saved EDID uploaded! Maybe it is the cause.

    Help with solving the problem.
    Thank you.

@RedSusanin First update to latest beta 1.0.95. Make sure you totally power off your device after update for a few minutes. Then test again. May not help but 1.0.95 is a very stable release so worth a try.

Beta 095 was installed at first, I thought at first the problem was in it, after I returned to 052 (flash) and then the unit was updated to 086 by online. The problem was present on all firmware versions.

Yep - that EDID does not support Dolby Vision, only HDR10+.

The Zidoo cannot have any effect on the TV EDID so it must be a setting on the TV.

I don't think your problem is the EDID - there's nothing wrong with it and nothing in what you describe could be attributable to EDID.

The worrying thing is you say you have issues with MKVs. If there's one thing that these players are rock solid with, it's MKV files (as long as the codec is supported) so I doubt it's the player.

Mark, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the problem is present, I will look for a solution.

I have a question. The TV can play 1600 (nits) according to the technical description, Callman measured 1200-1300 nit in a 10% window. Question: Do I need a custom edid to apply to the uhd5000?

    Thank you

No, you only need a custom EDID if you need to change something.

Assuming your TV is Dolby Vision and the Dolby Block specifies 1600 nits I could reduce that to 1300 if you want, but I doubt you'd see a difference.

Do I understand correctly? Uhd5000 receives data from the TV, DV block 1600 nits without turning on the custom edid! Does the AV receiver change the edid or not? The receiver is located between Uhd5000 and TV.

Yes, the TV EDID tells the receiver its capabilities.

The receiver then adds its audio capabilities to that EDID, so the Zidoo receives a modified EDID from the receiver which tells it the video and audio capabilities of the TV and receiver combined.

Mark I'm trying to read the edid, but I only see the denon-avrhd in the file! Do you see the TV edid in it?

The Manufacturer ID in the EDID will be Denon (DON) because that's the HDMI sink connected to the source but it is a combination of the TV and the receiver.
