I had the same issue with the router I had previously. The router I have now I got last year but the issue began years ago with the prior one too. I dont even know what a wifi mesh is. I have one modem that my ISP cable is plugged into, then a ethernet cable goes from that to the Spectrum router. Then I have 3 ethernet cables going direct from the router to my PC, my HiMedia Q10 and to my Zidoo. Everything else I use the WiFi from that router. Have zero speed issues for internet access via ethernet or wifi other than bandwidth congestion depending on time of day.

Have no issues downloading files from my PC to my phone. Uploads from my phone to my PC are useless. I have to upload to my Q10 or Zidoo, then transfer from them to my PC. Can't do it direct. I don't think it is related but just giving all info.

As far as I know I don't have any firewalls enabled.

I have used both. I know that the ethernet has to be unplugged to use WIFI. I have tested on both repeatedly and using different cables and even moving closer to the router temporarily to test as my PC. The most I have ever gotten regardless of wifi or ethernet is 15. It may peak higher for a second especially if I have to pause and restart but as soon as it settles it is the 15 max.

I am using Windows 10 Home Edition. I only use whatever the built in antivirus is. No external programs. SMB transfers used to be around 80 MB/s a few years ago. They dropped to around 15 and I havent been able to solve the reason why. I only had the Q10 then and asked on that forum and others reported similar issues but couldn't get it back up. I have just kinda lived with it since and manage my transfers to be done overnight while I sleep so I don't have to wait hours for each rip or download to move over.

I have an external drive that I can use for huge transfers but it is a pain in the butt honestly and I would much rather just Move to Folder in Windows even if it takes longer. That is what I used when I first got the Zidoo and moved all 4K library over, the external drive I mean.

So you will know if it is your PC or the router when you will take your PC to some friend/neighbor and connect to his network and then test the speed.
Or you can borrow his router too and check. Also what is the power plan set at your PC? Full performance?
Also try this in the command line at your PC as administrator: netsh winsock reset :

I don't have any friends near me and i don't know any of my neighbors. I can't really take my PC anywhere without help due to some physical issues. I can move it ok within my apartment but going up and down stairs is not an option. Like I said I don't have anyone close enough to me for that to be possible. I had to have movers bring it in when I moved here.

I did the winsock reset again but I have done that before on multiple occasions. My power plan is High Performance.

best thing since it seems unsolvable for now
use the internal drive for TV series smaller files so xfer times not so bad ,and just use usb3 hdds for your 4k movies ,i have like 15-20 4 TB drives with all mine on so far
and i just catelogue them all in a book with name /CV /complete/audio/drive and label all the drives with a label machine)

i only have to move drives like 5-10 ft if i want to watch a specific movie ,and means for prollly 90 percent of the time the drives are in a secure aluminium case not powered up

I dont want to keep bringing the external drive back and forth. I keep the 4K files on the internal drive so dont have to worry about any streaming or USB issues. I keep everything else on the PC drives. I have 6 of them. All with various movies, music videos, SACD Rips and FLAC and MP3 files.

I have to bring them to another room plus due to my set ups I have to move my PC around, then also take the Zidoo out of the rack it is in so it is a hassle. Not to mention I have to move my whole TV just to get to an open outlet to plug the power adapter for the drive in. Not worth it for a few rips at a time. Easier to transfers even at slow speeds. IMO.

I do appreciate all the help from everyone in trying to solve the issue. I still think it is some Window setting as I used to get much faster speeds but since i cant replace my PC or use another in my setup I am out of luck. My windows laptop must also have the same setting since it has the same speeds.

Next time I visit my kids I will bring my laptop and Zidoo and try using their router. Just to rule everything out.

    Thanks everyone!!

i use the 4-5 TB usb3 powered drives ,so you can just leave the usb3 cables plugged in and not have to move anything
My Pro usually has a 2 TB usb3 hdd for like 700 plus Sacd albums (in .dsf) and a 4 TB hdd for latest 4k movie folder, plus the usb2 at back has my topping Dac in

I have no issues with the zidoo powering 2 usb drives while also playing 4k atmos dv movies

you could always order a couple longer usb 3 cables so you never have to move the zidoo in the rack and also one for the pc so you dont have to move it around

Oof I am not sure what happened but after doing this and restarting, my transfer speeds are half of what they were before. Now I am getting max 7.5 MB/s. Tried with ethernet and via wifi. Great. lol.

Ok so I was finally able to bring my Z2000 pro to my son's mother's house and hook it up directly to his router. Using LAN Speed test under windows 10 going from his PC which I built and is basically a dupe of mine but with better graphics card for gaming I was able to get over 60 MB regularly in testing as well as able to transfer large ISO files back and forth at that speed. So it would appear the issue is coming from my PC? Maybe my onboard network card is not working right?

Even though internet speed is as fast as my 1Gig plan allows during online speed tests and during downloads and torrenting. The transfer speed going my other media player to my Zidoo is also very slow though which doesn't pass through the PC so that doesn't make sense. I cannot afford to have a ethernet tech or LAN expert come but I don't understand why I used to get fast SMB transfers and all of a sudden it is 7MB tops. I remember when it dropped from like 100 to 30 a few years ago, I was pissed but I could survive that. But 6 or 7 MB is just terrible. Is it possible the router will allow full internet speed over ethernet but LAN speed for SMB is the only thing being limited?

Yes, it is. Just check if QoS is enabled at the router... and at your PC network card setting... and disable it at both places.
However there are still many other factors that could impact the performance. Crowded WiFi environment, connecting to 2.4GHz WiFi instead of 5GHz, damaged cables if not using WiFi, faulty router/switch/PC network card or whatever is in the chain... wrong router config, even the software at your PC that is monitoring/influencing the traffic. Maybe also antivirus soft.
You have ruled out Z2000 since it is working ok at different network...

No clue what QoS is but I will look into disabling it. Not using wifi, using ethernet cables which have been repeatedly replaced and upgraded in order to try and solve the LAN issue for years. The software on my PC is the same as the one on my son's as I built them both and set them up the same. No additional antivirus other than windows defender. Aside from the QoS thing the only thing left is the network card or my Spectrum 1Gig router, but the issue occured on my old Spectrum router too. He doesn't have gig service so different model router (same one I used to have before upgrading to the 1Gig Service at my house) but same ISP. Both set up with whatever Spectrum default settings are provided. No changes have been made.

After looking further, it is not possible to change QoS in Spectrum routers but I will check on my PC to disable when I get back home. But since his router wouldn't be able to change it either, would it really make a difference?

    Thanks for the reply.

In most routers you have to turn Quality of Service ON, normally default is off. It enables you to throttle throughput to say a guest access or a wayward teenager who has access.

Yes. And it results in the lower transfers if actually not needed but enabled.

It was enabled so I disabled but no change in speed. Still max 7 or 8 MBps.

Ok. So I am back home and I borrowed my son's brand new gaming laptop to test out some LAN transfers. When using the laptop Wi-Fi I get transfers both too and from my PC to his laptop I get speeds of over 100 MB/s, using both smaller files as well as large ISO files. When I connect to the ethernet using brand new 3 FT CAT 6 cable (same one I used to test at his house) my transfer speed is around 35 MB/s going from PC to Laptop. Going from Laptop to PC I get over 100 MB/s using same files. Tested on all 3 ports on the router. LAN Speed Test App shows Wi-Fi at 27.64 MB/s Writing and 93.71 MB/s Reading. Ethernet on LAN Speed Test app is 20.71 MB/s Writing and 75.72 MB/s Reading.

When using Wi-Fi connection with the Z2000 Pro sitting 1 foot from the router, I get transfer speeds topping out at 14 MB/s going from my PC to the box. When going from the box to the PC I get around 25 MB/s. Speed is the same whether going to my internal HD or the onboard storage with no drive installed. Tried both. LAN Speed Test app shows WIFI 14.06 MB/s Writing and 23.60 MB/s Reading on my drive. The onboard storage tests at 14.83 MB/s Reading and 26.62 MB/s Writing.

When using 3 FT ethernet cable on Z2000 Pro I am getting 17.19 MB/s Reading and 38.08 Writing to onboard storage. I get 15.02 Writing and 35.93 Reading to my internal drive. For actual transfer speeds going from PC to internal drive I get around 25 MB/s speed. Going from Z2000 internal drive to PC I get around 35 MB/s speed.

But I cannot keep the box this close to the router, it is in another room and when in that room the speed drops to max 7.5 MB/s over wifi or ethernet (multiple 25 FT Cat 6 and 7 and even 8 cables and all 3 ports tested).

So based on this I am kinda lost. I get full transfer speeds on Wi-Fi going from PC to laptop so the issue does not appear to be on my PC card or my PC SSD drive. But the fact that I get much slower speed using cable going from PC to Laptop would imply there is a router issue with the ethernet ports? But why would going from Laptop to PC be full speed?

But going from PC to Z2000 is still much slower and causes stutter when watching 4K video on the PC over LAN or Wi-Fi. I don't understand why I was getting 60 MB/s at my son's house with the same basic PC (literally the only difference is the graphics card and I built both and set up the same settings wise) but I can't get half that at my house. The only difference appears to be the router (same ISP).
