If I have the Zidoo Z9X and use it to watch movies in 4K, what am I gaining with this new one?

I hope BD ISO/Folder processing with BD Menu is a lot better. At least it is claimed. The negative side if using BD-3D too then stick with the old one.

I know that I'm an outlier in the way I make my buying decisions, but I will eventually pick up this new box because of Zidoo's recent firmware update to the Z9X...

I'm actually more than satisfied with how well the original box performs with 4K full bit rate playback on my equipment (Denon, JVC) and am not quite convinced that there would be a perceptible difference in real world use ( beyond test screens). The new update fixes things that were only a minor concern for me and has really turned it into everything I both need and want in a media player.

I have only one reason to upgrade - to support a company that makes a product that caters to things I want and despite not being good enough for some, supports the product to the extent that I find acceptable.

I will wait out the experience of the early adopters of the new box - the inevitable firmware updates that quash the bugs that will show up as these boxes get into more hands. As long as I don't find anymore reasons not to "upgrade" (like losing 3D), I'll be buying the new Z9X 8K at some point

What do we know about point 2? What are the bases for that claim?

    2. i believe on test patterns it gives a better image more accurate than the previous realtek chipset etc ?

Yes, as @DELUCAS says, test patterns.

However it gets deeper than that - Dolby Vision is far more accurately rendered for Profile 7 and CMv4.0 is also now supported - I believe this is the only licenced Dolby Vision box to do this.

But above all else, it's a shiny new toy.

Do we have any links for the screenshots? Who did the comparisons? If you know.

    Thanks

Me for one, during testing, and no, I didn't take screen shots - I'm not a reviewer.

Great. What were the differences - what was better in PQ?

Also when you say it was better do you mean in it's default IC decoding or with VS10 or some other AI enabled?

But you have no problem stating that it has better PQ to get the hype going but nothing to back it up? Should you not be exited about it and let us know what did you like if you have done the tests? You have already spent time and effort to compare them so what is extra 10 minutes to type what the differences were to your eyes?

Are you now a paid employee as it certainly starting to look like a marketing flyer type of information more than anything else.

Well…….. Zidoo , Dune , Zappiti ( who all use the S928x chipset ) would not pick a New Chipset that produces a worse picture Quality or closer to reference / Dolby Vision vs10 etc than the previous chipset as many would dump a criticise there choice of chipset .

& bang goes there profit & sales .

No. This SoC does not support 3D.

Is there a newer one coming that supports 3d?

Also the fact that you can choose what hdr mode you want according to source is what is giving me thoughts of upgrading, so if it's SDR it plays SDR, if it's HDR10 plays HDR10, if it's DV it plays VS10, on my current Z2000 i need to go change this on settings everytime i see SDR.
Also Mark you know if there's a zidoo retailer for Portugal / Iberia?
