Video Streaming/Player APP's proven to work or fail (Aggregated lists standard and G-Version)

Ok, well at least the 1st part of that is progress.

 

Stremio & TiviMate are working perfectly. Both can call the Zidoo Player although i don't know why you'd need to for TiviMate.

Kodi also able to call Zidoo Player too by adding a playercorefactory.xml to to the userdata folder. Annoyingly though when playback finishes/stops, Kodi is closed and you're left at the Zidoo UI home screen. Hence I've set the Kodi Video Player as the default for TV Shows etc to avoid this behaviour but can still use the 'Play Using' feature to call the Zidoo player for movie playback and files that benefit from the better player. Playback tested using Jellyfin for Kodi addon and Umbrella addon with a Debrid service.

 

If you want to use Kodi, then buy an Nvidia shield dude. ZDMC is what you are supposed to use with these boxes when you don't like HT5 cause it uses the Zidoo video player which takes advantage of the features of the zidoo player. If you want it for normal Kodi then there is no point in buying this box cause it does the same as a $40 Android box when using regular Kodi. I will not be buying this box until ZDMC is updated. there HT app is hideous especially when you have episodes from older shows showing the episodes in full-screen, which makes the episode image look like a blurry low-res mess.

 

I point you to Mirror's less-than-ambiguous reply here , seems like ZDMC/Kodi will arrive for the new boxes at some point.

I'm also in the ZDMC camp, use it exclusively on my Z2600, it just makes it easier to manage my more complex library the way I want it, and I like having the ability to fully customise the skin and layout. it is also the only way I've found to reliably play back all of my Atmos music files, both the DD+ and TrueHD formats in .m4a files, the music player app hates them, they either dont play at all or play in stereo.

 

Each one uses it according to their needs, I personally use zdmc for other add-ons and for my movies stored on hard drives I use ht5 without any problem. I have had the shield pro and it is not without problems and according to my experience using zdmc I get better audio than the shield and the shield does not have DV, so for my personal use having everything that covers my needs in a single device, in this case zidoo is perfect.

Hmmm interesting, im not a fan of the music player (< 8) with atmos m4a files as they dont play gapless. Do they play gapless in Kodi ? How is the situation with MP8 ?

 

Default play action when in the UI is to play the current playlist in Music 8.

I've asked for an option to turn that off, but it seems play is not defined for use in SmartTube app so the Zidoo is doing what it's programmed to do.

I was playing around with my shiny new toy yesterday (a UHD8000) and tried loading BBC iPlayer, simply to ascertain the PQ differences achievable as compared to playing back direct on my TV. Eventually I installed APKPure and version 5.20 of the iPlayer app. It worked but does not show the UHD (HLG) versions which are readily available on my TV.

I guess this is due to the BBC themselves clamping down - but wonder if anyone has any success and/or thoughts?

 

These boxes are not suitable for streaming apps. Doubt you will get HDR from any of them.

Yes... Tivimate works great.. I have it setup as when I run my vpn app.. it launches Tivimate. I was able to side load Tivimate , but unfortunetly I had to load the G version of firmware to get my vpn service to work.

 

Please report the VPN proven to work only with the G-Version. Will add it next to the new list added. Have seen this before with various VPN services so I guess it is a general policy.

The main topic was updated with the introduction of the special G-Version and a special list for it was added.

 

My vpn is IPVanish, also to point out I had to disable (match frame rate and/or resolution for 'Third-party APP) as Tivimate didn't like it, if I selected a channel, would get a long black screen, or if I used the back button to leave a channel, it would
exit the app, so turning that off fixed the issues... Also fyi.. Tivimate does work with 4k content.

CoreELEC 21.0-Omega is now available. We have come a long way to the first stable Kodi Omega release, and there have been big changes in CoreELEC. It is based upon Kodi Omega v21.0.

CoreELEC 21 becomes the active development branch and it is based on CoreELEC 20.

Dolby Vision will be supported on Amlogic-ne and Amlogic-ng with Kodi Omega on certain Amlogic devices like Homatics/Dune R 4K Plus, RockTek G2 or Nokia 8010. Other devices on Amlogic-ng like Ugoos AM6+ or Minix NEO U22-XJ (Max) equiped with S922X-J will support Dolby Vision with profile 7 FEL as well.


Coreelec is working on it too. But they want you to install a whole firmware. if I am correct ( not for our machines..perhaps never)

 

I confirm the old ZDMC won’t work with the internal Zidoo player because of the same reason zidooplexmod+PlexToZidoo doesn’t call the internal Zidoo player for me in ZDMC: Zidoo changed the java package and class name (and probably paraneters too) of it’s internal player from com.android.gallery3d to com.zidoo.player.

We will have to wait for the Zidoo team to code new versions.

 

Tried to install Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall apk. Got error message: unable to parse apk. Thus, unable to install

 

I am not sure what this error says as it does not even try to install it. Is it a correct working APK?

 

Having a strange issue with multiple players on a Z30 Pro. Everything works great until I stop playing a movie - either by pressing Stop, or hitting the back arrow twice. The screen goes black, I see the TV pop a "HDR" notification, but there's nothing on screen. This happens with both the built-in Plex app and Home Theater 5.0. What's strange is that the system still seems operational - after a period of time I can hit Play again and the movie picks back up. Stopping it goes back to the black screen. It seems like the UI isn't being displayed for some reason. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try? Thank you!

Edit: seems to happen with 4k DV movies, but not 4K HDR movies. 1080p videos, all HDR, seem fine too. So perhaps there's some sync issue with dropping out of DV playback and going to an HDR UI?

 

He probado tivimate, acestream y smartube y funcionan correctamente cambiando tanto la resolución como los frames. Smartube salta 4k HDR sin problemas, pero en cambio no puede saltar fotogramas a 60 y se queda en 30. En la información de smartube dice que la resolución máxima es 4k 59.94 en el zidoo y no sé por qué. Perdonar mi traducción si no es correcta.
