Video Streaming APP's compatibility with the new Zidoo 8K series media players:
The missing capability to run streaming video services like Netflix, next to missing MVC BD-3D play (=SOC limitation), are the only serious player limitations I am aware of. Technically the HW plus OS are fully capable to run streaming video services perfect but a strict platform certification process, enforced by some streaming video providers, block this from happening.
The actual number of streaming video services working well is growing so in practice it looks promising.

Be aware for Streaming Music Services as the contrary is the case since the Music Player included supports most if not all popular music streaming services being paid or for free.

Using the Google capable version (G-Version):
A special G-version is made available for all models via an update.
It includes the Google Play Store and is running the Google Player Services.
Warning: Going that way is irreversible as all future updates need to be also the G-Version then for these models. Be sure you fully understand and accept this before going down that road.

The big question is if compatibility/certification by providers is different than on the previous generations. Just a G-version is not a guarantee for that but yes a condition as without it is just impossible.
For me it is wait and see what it actually brings for streaming video services. It will avoid the need for side-loading some applications and will run those applications requiring these services to be active..

Using a dedicated 2nd platform as the alternative
To run those Streaming Video Services a Smart TV which is Powered by Android TV (or a compatible OS for the APP desired) is the easiest way to go. Using a TV Stick or other Android TV Certified media player like an Apple TV, Google Homatics media player or Nvidia Shield TV are also validated alternatives.
Use an Android TV at my home and a Dune/Google Homatics being on the road with no problems or limitations what so ever.

Be aware Philips, Sony and Pioneer in that order swapped their own OS for Google Android TV during recent years. The OS of LG and Samsung e.g. is adopted to run with various streaming services individually but compatibility isn't always perfect. One needs to download the customized APP from their own factory store to install them.

What still can be run by individual manual installation without installing the G-Version
The alternative is sideloading going this way:
    http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/skip-sideloading-and-install-an-app-store.96463/
Disclaimer: It is regarded illegal/undesired by Google and may cause side effects!
As Google Player Services is not active there is no automatic updating. You will need to that also manually if desired.

Two methods to sideload an APK:
    1) To sideload an app, download the APK (Android version of app installation file), then type your players IP address in your browser using port 18888 i.e. 192.168.x.x:18888
    2) Copy the APK to any folder and use the File browser in "Cast Mode" to install it manually by just clicking on it.

Remark: Any .xapk file is compressed. Change the file extension to .zip, unzip and load the enclosed .apk file as normal

Reporting what works or does not work
I will facilitate updating the aggregated overview page below.
Just report what was tested an proved to work fine and I will copy the relevant part to the list.
I suggest to conveniently add a link to the APK that proved to work for you as multiple Android OS versions may exist. When you see my "Like" then it has been added to the list.

Reporting Sideloading General function and Music Streaming APP's
I am already keeping track of these in the Eversolo DMP-A6 forum:
    http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?thr...g-music-and-other-apps-aggregated-list.96057/
Unless reported not being applicable to the Zidoo 8K series will keep track for those there.
That list should be applicable to the new players too.

Video Streaming Services and Player APP's proven to work:
    - ZDMC Installs fine including using External Player (=Zidoo player).
    http://ota-cloudfront.zidoo.tv/app/ZDMC/zdmc-21.apk
Use this version with FW 1.1.47 and above to facilitate using the Zidoo Internal player as a choice.
    - KODI Installs fine but can't be set to use the External Player (=Zidoo player) default.
Kodi is only able to call Zidoo Player by adding a playercorefactory.xml to to the userdata folder. But as a nasty side-effect KODI is then closed as soon as playback ends.

    - Acestream
    - BBC iPlayer version 5.20 (but not supp0rting 4K with HLG)
    - F1TV
    - Molotov APP( French TV in 4K)
    - Smarttube APP (=Youtube) is reported to be working including 4K, AV1, VP9 and 60P (8K remains to be confirmed)
    https://smarttubeapp.github.io/
    - Stremio (4K, dolby atmos, hdr10+)
    - TiviMate (4K, Auto frame rate and/or resolution for 'Third-party APP' must be disabled)

Video Streaming Services and Player APP's proven to work but requiring the G-version:
    - IPVanish (Many VPN services are known to require installing the G-Version as a condition)
    - UAPP (USB Audio Player Pro) (Just needed for license validation)

Video Streaming Services and APP's not supported/working:

    - Netflix ( "Never" stated explicitly by Zidoo staff)

    So does ZDMC work?

I would also like to know if ZDMC and KODI have full compatibility with the new 8k models. Knowing this will determine whether I buy a Z3000 or keep the Z1000. I like HT but I prefer the interface customization of ZDMC/KODI much more.

As soon as confirmed it will be added to the list here for sure. No need to ever look elsewhere or ask again.

It works on Eversolo so the chance is actually high. Just see that list.

Ok, I won't ask anything more. I will remain quiet and good, patiently waiting for confirmation to be given here. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Anyone always may ask questions. It wasn' t meant like a criticism. You are most welcome to do. ;)
The message was only that it is allways reported here if anything gets known. :)

HI. :(

The new 8k models are starting to arrive and the first impressions are starting to come in too. But isn't there still a kind soul who wants to install ZDMC and test it with Zidoo's internal player to verify its full compatibility?

I don't use ZDMC but I did install it (20.2) to see how it goes.

I managed to set it up fine. However when I select option (Settings/Player) to use external player and then try to play a movie I get a message that says 'External player active - click OK when playback has ended'. I click OK to get rid of the message but it does not start playing. If I turn off option to use external player it works. But then it uses internal player which defeats the object somewhat! It works but the movie 'Civil War' played back in HDR and not DV and no Atmos audio.

For me it is simple: no zdmc/kodi = no zidoo

Sorry, I write in English. I don't understand why you translate it into Italian.

This is the information I never wanted to hear. Thanks anyway for taking the test.

I think he writes in English but as he posts his browser automatically translates to his native Italian?
