The only thing I have found so far on 1.1.38 that doesn't seem to work is the text prompt option for resume play. The dialog resume option works as expected but the text prompt doesn't appear. I did try the UI in 4K as well as 2K and IMHO the 2K version is WAY faster. The poster wall scrolls with all the posters intact and I never get any placeholder icons while the box catches up - very nice!

I did notice the subtitle option to play the default sub is ignored and it plays the first one. Since the only subs I ever use are foreign language -> English, I have always marked those as Forced with MKVToolNix and the forced subtitle option to always play subs with the forced flag does appear to work as expected. So while I am not having any practical issues, the subtitle option to only play default ones appears broken.

Part of the sub frustration is that MakeMKV has never seemed to correctly apply default or forced flags from the original BD/UHD. It also does a crappy job of identifying forced ones in the ripping process. I now just rip all the English subs and if the film has foreign language translations that are not burned into the film (like many are), I set the forced flag afterwards.

The lip-sync issue with TrueHD/DTS-MA is what I'm really afraid of with 1.1.47, although I suspect this is highly dependent on the particular AVR/prepro and TV combination.

When I got the device I tested Blade Runner 2049, which has no dialog at the very beginning, The Bicycle Thieves which is an old Italian film with dubious sync anyway and Aliens.
So the only one of these where I actually saw audio and mouth move at the same time was Aliens and I did not see any sync issue.
After updating to the latest non-beta software I played Aliens again and boom a huge obvious sync issue. I then updated to the latest beta version and same.

I can't be 100% sure it wasn't there on the first firmware as I only did minimal quick testing, but the delay is so obvious when you have it you can't not notice it, so I'm as sure as I can be it was OK originally with that film at least.

I have both the original BD version and the new UHD version ripped and I'll try those later today on 1.1.38. Just a few films I tested quickly for this:

    Passengers (UHD)
    Addams Family (UHD)
    Oblivion (UHD)
    I Robot (BD)
    Blackhawk Down (DV UHD version)
    Zero Dark Thirty (UHD)
    X-Men First Class (BD)
    Equalizer 1 & 2 (UHD)

For reference, I am using a Marantz 8805 prepro (with HDMI overlays turned on for on-screen volume display) and a Sony 85X95K TV. Both video & audio via HDMI are switched through the Marantz and all the lip-sync stuff is set to auto/left at default on both the prepro and the TV.

I wonder if there is anything in common for those of us with sync issues?

Creator44 are you routing the player through an AV Amp?

If so what model / brand?

    I'm using a Denon AVR-X3800h.

The other thing I have lost in this thread is whether folks with the sync problem are using MKV's, ISO's or BDMV folders? I am exclusively on MKV's created using MakeMKV. Except in a very few cases where I created DV profile 5 versions to sidestep oddball MEL/FEL issues with the Zidoo (e.g. Saving Private Ryan), nothing is remuxed.

I am also not using match resolution, just match framerate. I am letting the Zidoo upscale BD material to 4K. Also using TV led DV

BTW - I know Austin powers has been mentioned as a problematic VC-1 disc but I don't own that. Can anyone offer up any other VC-1 discs that have been issues prior to 1.1.47?

I have the same AVR. You say you have lip sync issues with Aliens. What version is it? UHD, MKV, full bluray rip?

Have you checked the audio sync settings in the amp?

I made sure it was turned off in my x8500 as it was introducing a delay of 100 odd milliseconds.

Aliens was an example. I exclusively use MKV film only. This delay was affecting all TrueHD and DTD HD MA that I tested.

    Hi Mark,

I just had a quick test in my lunch hour, the source does have lip-sync turned on in the AV Amp settings. As all the sources do as this is default.

When I turned off lip-sync, the delay changed slightly but it was still delayed, just by a different amount.

I tested turning the lip-sync off and delay off / zero ms, but it's still not in sync.

I'll do some more testing this evening.

I have now simply turned this setting to Off seeing as I only have a few films with subtitles, I will just manually turn them on when needed.

When I checked the Poster Wall from the main menu at lunch today, the filename of the file I updated yesterday evening around 18 hours ago has finally updated and can now be played.

I tried to get this to update for about 4 hours yesterday evening with no luck and some how it did it by itself overnight presumably.

The media centre app must have it's own scanning update schedule?

Checking via Files > SMB > [Movie File] > Open Poster still shows three versions of the film.

So bad news after all - Both Aliens 4K SE and Abyss 4K SE have lip sync issues. Any other film I have tried does not.

And I have several VC-1 BD MKV's - all have some degree of stutter and/or macro-blocking. Sounds like 1.1.47 fixes this but potentially leaves me with the lip sync issue

Interesting, I also have Abyss 4k SE I can/will test.

The only films I have watched through so far are the original Star Wars trilogy 4K with the delay added and were in sync, I will try them without the delay this evening.

I guess I’m lucky, no audio sync issues at all from any sources on my Z3000 Pro. Could be combination of factors that’s causing it, not just the device and/or the firmware.

I hope those who have the issue will get it fixed.

Hi, of all of these I only have the out sync issue (in my case it's now stable at +75ms). No SMB share issue (I have 3 and they all work good), no GUI glitches, no problem updating, deleting (it does it automatically once I change something on my NAS archive) or rename, no subtitles issue, no DV issue, no volume issue (have you set HDMI RAW audio output?)... all of this going through a Yamaha AV pre-processor.
The only new issue that came up the first time a few days ago and happened again yesterday evening, is the black screen coming up every 10 sec (and muting also the audio) during a playback. But it's random... and if I stop and resume it works good again.

In my case the out of sync is not related to the AV receiver (or pre-processor in my case) as the new Zidoo Z9X 8K is the only source I need to set at +75ms to get movies in sync. Any other source (old Z9X, Panasonic UB820, Apple TV 4K, FireTV 4K Max) is perfectly in sync.
So there's something else going on, for sure!

I'll check the HDMI RAW setting, mine might be auto.

Can you confirm if you change the file name of say a movie, the poster wall path updates straight away?
