Honestly not a clue what's going on here. I'm starting to think the box is faulty.

In the screen shots above you show the same file twice, but with different, but still incorrect, output parameters.

What changed between playback of each?

The first one was the result of a fixed res + 23.976hz; the second - auto switch to best resolution, was 4k60hz auto.

Well I'm utterly lost - the only way I can come anywhere near replicating what's going on is to turn off Auto Framerate.

If you're sure you've got the settings correct then I'd RMA the box at this stage. Something is completely screwed somewhere.

Thank you so far! I'm going to get another box and compare the behavior...

Look forward to hearing the results! This is a really odd one.

So I figured what the problem was!
Tried to play movies controlling the player from the app, with PJ and Marantz AV turned off. No problem! All movies are played with the correct frame rate.
Then turned the AV on and that what was breaking the frame rates. Checked that all the AV settings are per recommended (HDMI pass trough is ON)
Then I found what was breaking it - in the AV Output Settings, HDMI Video Output - I set Monitor 1 instead of Auto and that did the trick.

UPD: So I spoke too early... turning the EPSON LS 12000 PJ on breaks it again. Tried to figure what setting in the PJ might be responsible for that to no avail. Frame Interpolation is OFF...

The only way the AVR or projector can affect frame rate control is through the EDID.

Certainly the Marantz EDID you sent me a few days ago couldn't do that.

Also, you tried a custom EDID and in that case the AVR and/or projector has no effect on the Zidoo output at all.

But the fact is that the PJ does change the rate! With PJ off the rate is matching the video. With PJ on - it does whatever, unless I change the Zidoo rate manually in its resolution settings to match the video.

Is there an ETA on new firmware for the ZX9 8K ?

Fair enough I'll hold my hand up to that one!

I wasn't monitoring outside of this thread....

I will update and see how we go.

Just got my Z9X pro 8k. Love it so far. One question. I tried playing a few Trinnov atmos trailers. Some of them just show a white screen but audio is playing. “Rows” is one example. Others play fine. Any one tried these trailers? Thanks.

Should this thread be locked and perhaps the first impressions thread as well?

It seems we have several threads that are kind of the same and all over the place. Just IMO :)

I've been thinking the same thing but I don't like to lock threads - there's always someone who wants to add something or reply to a previous post with a question etc, and they tend to peter out naturally on their own particularly when they come off sticky.

Yes same here. For example the file 'Rows of Rows 16-9 Dolby Atmos.mkv'. Don't know why!

So I solved the issue with the incorrect frame rate that don't match the movies by completely bypassing the Marantz SR8015 AVR. I use HDMI video out to PJ directly and HDMI audio to AVR. This resolved all the sync issues. The switch between rates and resolutions/HDR/SDR is much quicker and all works correctly. Crazy!

I'm glad that's fixed, but I have no explanation as to why!!

I think there is no way to downgrade firmware for the time being.

I am Roon Ready. Please make the Zidoo Z9X 8K Roon Ready too.
