Wow Seamless Branching improved and Google Play bundled.

These are the biggest issues pending in my modest view. Love to hear experiences till I can test this baby myself.

If it all works I do expect a general OTA stable update coming for all models. That should make a lot of users very happy.

What’s the benefit of having google services bundled? Only using for video playback from HDD, do I need it?

Hopefully Google services can be uninstalled or deactivated at the very least.

For me the box just about plays local video files fine. Don't want to complicate it by having more programs/services running. It's also a drag on the hardware resources.

 

If you read the sticky at the 1st entry to this Z9S forum you will see, it is HIGHLY recommended to ALWAYS install the updated Google Play AFTER new firmware is installed. You can also see the benefit to other users in previous firmware threads--After posting about problems--they were fixed by reinstalling the google update. It is certainly your choice to not install it, but PLEASE before you post about a problem--reinstall it to see if it fixes your problem. IF it doesn't add that to your post.

 

First test on 'optimised' seamless branching is an epic fail. Thor Ragnarok UHD has first M2TS join at 4m 25s. Previous firmware stuck here. So does this. Other checks on problematic disks show no improvement at all. Disappointing. With recent firmware's with a long list of fixes none have addressed or fixed seamless branching and hit and miss blu ray menu support

Tried with an External USB DAC but does nothing for me.

Will be able to test myself next week.

Tried to watch a movie last night - Hustlers UHD bluray full rip. Unfortunately it started to glitch with momentary pauses. I stopped and set the player to use SMB instead of NFS. At first seemed better but after pausing and restarting it started glitching again. Gave up and watched on Nvidia Shield via Kodi

 

For a few years now that i can't get smb to work,i've tried everything.
