Got a big surprise today. As I did not play a live album during all my more recent testing just discovered Music Player 6 actually is playing gapless now on my UHD3000. Both with HDMI and DAC output this works just fine. At least with a favorite FLAC live album played by me. For me this was the most relevant missing feature for actual playback of live albums. It was not in any FW change list as far as I know. If it works too on other models than UHD3000 was not tried by me (Z9X). They seem to have just sneaked it in somewhere! There is no option to disable/enable it for now making the feature invisible in setup. Was promised already time ago but never made very clear when it would be available and for which platforms? All, High-End (Black GUI) or HiFi (with DAC panel) models?
Why don't you tell us? No settings or indication for it, you need to try it! Best using a live album; that is how I found out.
Good to know. Then it should be active on all models. Yeah sneaky guys, they waited for us to find out. The strategy behind this one? Changed the title. It is still possible that it will be restricted when released officially to specific models only?
Really surprised they didn't make a song and dance about this - any serious music player absolutely has to support gapless playback - it's a big thing. I think I did detect a tiny tiny glitch between "Breathe" and "On the Run" but couldn't swear to it and in a couple of "eyes closed" tests afterwards, I didn't detect it.
I was going to try DSOTM and report back but have been beaten to it Good to know we have that now though at last The cynic in me says they've not announced it so as not to dent the sales of the UHD3000. But €400 for the Z1000 Pro and €838 for the UHD3000 - what makes the latter €438 more expensive?
UHD3000 has Dual HDD bays, Dual HDMI, an advanced Linear + Switched PSU and finally an excellent DAC panel as extra's. Definitely worth those extra bucks. I am confident gapless playback will be a general feature and expect it even to zip down to the previous generation(s) players.
You can find it in the resamping rate control. In fact, we have been developing this function for half a year, and it is difficult
Most brands/players with Gapless Playback make it an option. They (mostly) also make it work only with specified types limited number of encodings and the total playlist must be consistent using a single type of encoding for all titles in it to be facilitated. For those trying gapless I suggest to follow the playlist rule above if you think it does not work. Standardized myself on WAV (=EAC) , FLAC (incl. MQA) and MP3 types.
Can confirm - z1000 pro Gapless play works (flac; FW .90; ) z1000 pro->denon 3600; But if my external DAC is just switched on it stutters; have to have it turned off, and then evrth is OK
Hmm,I don’t see how to get Gapless on my Z1000 Pro. When I listen to some MCH FLAC or DSD tracks there is a clear gap between songs.
Gapless works just fine as long as the source is Stereo but for MCH it never worked. As I play almost only SACD ISO's myself those are not a problem for me. Also nicely allows toggling Stereo/MCH modes. It is also on my list of flaws: http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?thr...-upto-fw-v6-4-7-20-no-feature-requests.84836/ See #25 which also specifies a by now good working bypass for DTS-CD and FLAC. Prior to that it was even red flagged. Just read the history for details.
