Hi @Markswift2003 , after some more extensive testing, I have found that my JVC NZ8 projector ends up doing a better job when using the 600MHz BT.2020 4000nit LLDV (CMv4.0) EDID file, converting everything to DV LLDV (except SDR) and unselecting VS10 processing for all types.

The only remaining problem is that this EDID file does not allow me to upscale to 8K, as the highest resolution avaliable presented is 40K60. Please, would you be so kind to generate an equivalent file, but with the max resolution as 8K?

Makes sense - you're handing over all tone mapping duties to the projector leaving only creative trims to VS10 (theoretically!).

Can you post your own EDID so I can see which 8K modes your display supports and I'll add them to the LLDV EDID.

I'll add another layer: last night we saw the latest SEAN PENN film "ASPHALT CITY (2024)" with its settings, the night scenes were superb.............

Here you go, added your 8K modes to the EDID.

Hi Mark, I just tested this EDID file, and the 8K resolution options do not show up as my original EDID (I reloaded my original file just to confirm and 8K becomes avaliable again). Please, for testing purposes would it be possible to add 4000nits LLDV capabilities to my original 8K EDID file, instead?

    That's odd..

Ok, this is your 8K EDID with 4000nit BT.2020 LLDV added.

There were only 7 bytes left in it and I needed 10 for the Dolby Block so I removed the speaker configuration to gain some extra space - it shouldn't be needed for the Zidoo.

Ah - I added the 8K resolutions but forgot to add the fixed rate link stuff which allows higher clock rates than HDMI 2...

Just out of interest, this is that 8K one (hopefully) corrected...

Hi Mark, both those last two EDID files, did the job! Thank you very much !! I will use the very last one, just in case.

OK, so now this configuration unvealed a new limitation, for which I would appreciate your thoughts on. All 4K resolutions appear with the "dolby vision" indicator for LLDV, except the 8K ones. So I guess the SOC supports LLDV for up to 4K60 and not 8K display resolutions.

As a long term, future proof configuration option, it would be very nice to have something like this:

All file resolutions up to 4K: Upscale to 4K with LLDV
8K native resolution files: Playback of native format (HDR10, SDR, etc).

Yes, as far as I'm aware the SOC only supports Dolby Vision up to 4K60 (Level 9). 8K requires support for Levels 11-13 (Level 10 is 4K120 and again, not supported as far as I'm aware).

    Thanks again Mark!

Please, do you believe there is a way for me to configure the box for this automatic behaviour:

A)All file resolutions up to 4K: Upscale to 4K with LLDV.
    B) 8K native resolution files: Playback of native format (HDR10, SDR, etc).

I believe along with the automatic switch resolution, there could be a parameter for mininum upscaling resolution where I would set to 4K, so that 480p~1080p files get upscaled to 4K (benefitting from the AI features), but when the file is native 8K resolution, it would then swith to 8K output. This would allow me to benefit from LLDV up to 4K60.

Well you could possibly use an LLDV EDID that only has 4K & 8K resolutions. Then it shouldn't be able to go below 4K.

Set HDR to advanced and set all modes for Dolby Vision but set VS10 to no for all modes.

Then theoretically, everything outputting at 4K would be LLDV and when it goes into 8K, it can't do DV so I'd expect it to be native. The VS10 setting might confuse it so you may have to experiment with that.

Try the attached EDID - it only has 4K & 8K resolutions...
