I do get that, and probably will do it, but the rebuilding of the custom collections and the custom widgets just doesn't sound fun at the moment!

I will have to manually comb through all the movie folders to delete the years and NFO files.

Given that I have the years included in the MKV file names, and for the most part, had no problem with scraping, how vital to you believe it is for me to remove the years?

To be honest maybe I was being a bit brutal there - I'd probably use a batch script to remove all 4 digit numbers in brackets from files or rename all *.mkv files to the same as their holding directory but on balance, it's probably ok to leave - I just like to keep things tidy.

I don't really know much about batch scripts. I do have one renaming program and I can see if I can use it for this purpose.

I use Batch Rename - it's incredibly powerful - yeah, could probably do it with that.

As an update, I went ahead and did all the things you recommended. I renamed the files to remove the years, cleared HT on the 5000, scraped the movies again, etc. I will say it was much harder this time than the first, but that was mostly my fault for mistakes I created in the movie names by trying to remove the years automatically.

I also cleared HT on the Z9X Pro. However, when I tried to scrape the movies on the Z9X Pro, the 5000 kept shutting down out of no where. I am still trying to see if I can find the cause of the shutting down. I do have Control4, which sends IP commands. I don't know why C4 would be sending those commands randomly, but I deleted them in my programming. Currently, the player has been going for nearly 15 minutes without shutting down on its own,

Fortunately, the 5000 shutting down on it own has stopped after I removed the shutdown commands from Control4. I will have to start re-adding the commands back into my programming and see if the problem reappears.

After following all of your above instructions, I have rescraped the movies on the Z9X Pro, and guess what, the player still cannot find On Stranger Tides. The 5000 finds 286 movies, while the Z9X Pro finds 285.

At this point, I am going to give up, unless you have any other ideas that do not involve clearing out all the data on either player!!!

Thanks again for your help. Such a weird problem.

Actually here's a thought - is it in Unmatched?

I suspect not, and if not, it must be scraped - now we have a clean database, run a backup on the Z9X AND the 5000 - this time I should see only one copy of Stranger Tides in each and I can compare the backups and hopefully see where it is.

No, it is not in Unmatched. I looked there at the beginning of this fiasco.

I will upload a backup file from the Z9X Pro soon.

    Thanks!

And the 5000 - I can compare them then.

Definitely a very odd one this, but there has to be something we're overlooking.

Right - all I can tell you from those two databases is that the Z9X did not scrape "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales"

    I can't tell you why.

It didn't even register the directory and a search shows no other directories with "Pirates" in the name.

And I am guessing it will remain a mystery! The fact that I cannot see the movie in the Z9X Pro's file manager is the weirdest part to me, but that is consistent with what you are seeing in the backup file... For some reason, the Z9X Pro doesn't not even know the movie is there.

I must have missed that bit! That explains it entirely. Doesn't explain why it's not seeing it, but explains why it's not in HT4!

Doesn't explain why we were originally talking about Stranger Tides and now we're talking about Dead Men though... It's a very specific fault!!

What firmware are you using on the 5000?

Yeah, I noted it in my original post, but that was many posts ago!!

I am running the .65 on both the 5000 and Z9X Pro.

I am going to check on the Z9X Pro and see what movie is actually showing up.

Just checked, and yes, it is Dead Men Tell No Tales that is missing from HT. After I rescraped, I had looked and saw only four movies, but didn't look at which four, assuming it was On Stranger Tides missing.

If I use file manager on the 5000 or through my PC or Mac, I see the movie folder for On Stranger Tides, but if I use the file manager on the Z9X Pro, the whole folder is missing.

Now, previously, if I remained the movie folder, like adding an "a" in front of the name, I then can see the folder and mkv file on file manager with the Z9X Pro, BUT I still cannot scrape it.

Yeah, I could see those folders with an "a" in front in the first backup you made.

Maybe try logging out of the 5000 and then logging back in again...

On the Z9X go to Media Center > SMB

Highlight the share you have for the 5000, press Right to get the pop out menu and select Logoff.

Then rescan the network and go back in.

New to Zidoo, having the same issue once I scrapped movies. Star wars, a John Wick....on the HD but can't see it on the movie wall. I see the 'A' , 'B' next to one of the films in each collection...I guess that means 2 are there? Not sure how to re-scan so it sees 2 instead of the 1? The movies are all there in explorer. Just not on the wall. Thanks

You can rescrape each movie individually - press "menu" on the poster and select "Re-Match" and it's fairly self explanatory.

I did the above and then rescraped the drive in HT. Still no movie!! It is starting to get funny...
