Looks like its not fully baked, as the long-promised (was going to be released back in April) digital volume control is still vey broken. The volume display now shows a range of -100dB to 0 rather than 15 steps, but between -100 to -55 is completely silent, and then the volume goes up in big stepped increments after that, with the same volume output over a range of settings before jumping up to the next level. Volume synchronisation with LMS is also more broken than it was previously, with the whole volume range in LMS covering just -100 to -92.5 on the A6 (all currently completely silent, so max volume in LMS sets the A6 to -92.5db), and then volume changes on the A6 are not being reflected back to LMS at all. Seems like this won't be ready for release 'soon'.
Is there a change/update list for this one? I guess it is getting synchronized with MP7 of the new 8K Zidoo media players to avoid double work. Don't see any urgency to install it.
I don't think that it is an official release due to the amount of broken features, probably an internal test version.
There is no hope for a firmware that could enable Atmos, right? Hopefully there will be something like an DMP-A7 with Atmos capability.
You can always get a Zidoo Z9X 8K for just that. http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?forums/hdd-8k-media-player-aml-s928x.63/ All new Zidoo 8K players will do Atmos via HDMI for you.
Do not upgrade unofficial versions, which are internal versions used for streaming service certification and verification of other functions, and usually delete many functions. New firmware will be released in two weeks.
Can it stream Atmos from Amazon Music and Tidal? I didn´t find any info. Anyway, I like the design and display of the DMP-A6 so much, that I wouldn´t want to buy that Z9X 8K.
Hello Mirror, I did this update and lost my PEQ settings, will I get them back with the official update?
I'm still amazed that people load unofficial firmware updates (on any device). It just seems like such a risk of causing more issues than those that might be corrected.
Don't see it as an replacement just as an addition mainly for video (and picture) files. Also good for BD Audio albums.
Depends what your situation is. As I have active speakers and the A6 does not yet have a usable digital volume control, my risk profile is fairly low as it is currently an unused brick. Official releases and official betas are also not super clear, and I don't think that the last official beta even had its own pinned thread on here. The Everesolo website doesn't have a firmware download section where you might download an official firmware, so downloads either come from forum threads (sometimes) or OTA. And sometime OTA doesn't work. It's not ideal.
Still to risky IMO. At least with if an official firmware release is loaded on an in warranty unit and it's bricked you have a warranty claim. Loading an unofficial firmware off this forum or anywhere online will most likely get you no help.
I 'am a tester but even I do skip these releases. Only try those announced by Zidoo on this form including also a change list. If not one never knows what one is actually testing.
Obviously loading files of unknown provenance is very foolish, but the firmwares linked are on the Eversolo server (as can be seen in the link address) and are there for internal testing. So although they might remove functionally, they shouldn't brick your unit. Again, depends on your use case and comfortableness with risk.
I'm sorry about posting v1.3.05 as beta on my site. I've changed it to internal test version right after I've figure out my fault. I'll be more careful in future and wait for confirmation first the next time.
Shouldn't being the key word. The risk of losing functions could be as close as the unit being bricked. Whether the unofficial firmware versions are linked on the Eversolo server or not they are still not fully vetted to eliminate serious issues. It's high risk with the possibility of low reward IMO. Being into audio for years I have seen countless posts on forums like this where people did irreversible damage to components by installing unofficial firmware versions. It's quite often that people just aren't patient and do not wait for official versions to be released.
