I also use the Tiny Media Manger for the trailer download. However, the trailers are only played with a black screen. The sound is there, but the picture is not. When I play the trailer files on the PC with VLC, the picture and sound are fine.

Maybe it’s the codec that YouTube is using? Could you post a MediaInfo file report of one of those trailers ?

That's not a MediaInfo file, it should look like this in layout as an example.

Possibly this, I don’t know your model

some Zidoo media players support VP9 video codecs, including the Zidoo UHD8000, Zidoo Z9X, and Zidoo Z30 PRO:

    • Zidoo UHD8000: Supports AV1, VP9, H.265, AVS3, and AVS2 video codecs

    • Zidoo Z9X: Supports AV1, VP9, H.265, AVS3, and AVS2 video codecs

    • Zidoo Z30 PRO: Supports almost all Dolby Vision HDR formats

VP9 is a video compression format that supports resolutions up to 65536×65536. It's designed for video resolutions above 1080p, and can be used for low bitrate compression or high-quality ultra-HD.

    I have a Z3000 Pro with VP9 support.

I’ve had a couple of problems with mp4 files encoded with VP9. In both cases I was able to play them after I put them in a MKV container using mkvtoolnix. Quite possible a different issue to VP9? I have a UHD3000. I tend to avoid mp4.

MP4 is fine, it's just a container - it depends on the codec inside the container.

I've had zero issues with mp4 trailers from YouTube, but you find much better quality ones elsewhere - Youtube is my last resort.

Going back to my Popcorn Hour days it was nearly always a mp4 that had either navigation problems or simply wouldn't play, whereas in a mkv container very few problems. That's been my practical experience over time and dozens of files. Don't trust em!

what's strange is that using ZDMC on my Z9X 8K the trailers work...

  12. Netmask

ZDMC is maintained by volunteers so changes made by YouTube etc can be dealt with a lot quicker than any commercial organisation, also payments for licence fees could be involved, whilst community groups might have a nominal fee. Large companies nearly always take longer to respond, my guess it will be fixed, unless it slips through the cracks in the next couple of firmware updates. If trailers are important then do as I do, I download my own as I rip a new title and over time I’ve populated my entire collection.
Many different sites, look for digital-digest a big collection of dv and hdr trailers. Not sure if I can post the address.

Sorry, but I really can't see me doing that for 1,300+ movies......but hey, each to their own.

Then, by all means... enjoy the sporatic and mostly non-working nature of online trailers.;) . I pushed back for a quite a while on downloading my own.. but I made it a running project of mine to set aside some time every few evenings to download and got it done faster than I thought I would. So nice not having to wonder if my trailers will work or not.

Now i have deaktivated the YouTube Addon in TMM. The downloaded trailers are playing. Picture and sound is ok.
The Video format is now AVC.
VP9 ist not working for trailers. AVC is ok.

What's this about volunteers? I thought ZDMC was maintained by Zidoo?

I usually have to explain this every six months or so, and have done for years.

ZDMC was a port of Kodi that Zidoo used on boxes before they wrote HT.

When HT was released, ZDMC was deprecated and was no longer officially supported. This has been the case for years.

If the devs get 5 minutes (unusual these days!) and have the inclination, then they'll update ZDMC occasionally, but it's not part of any official support.
