There are new releases constantly on the way... this kind of questions somehow look unpleasant to me... WHEN?!? When it's ready, of course. Be it a day, a week, a month... whatever it takes to have the things sorted out and working.
It will not cause the release to happen any sooner. There is the internal app. There is also the official Amazon app for Android.| Does the app not work on your Android phone as well? I may be old school, I feel it somehow. But I live soooo well with my local FLACs ripped from my personal CDs, you have no idea how happy I am. And, last but not least, shall tomorrow morning my internet connection fall due to maintenance / whatever, I know I can still listen to my local music. Like it was back in the days, whan I just took a CD, or a vinyl, an put it on its player. Not a big fan of the always-online-always-paying-for-my-stuff thing... never will.
Sorry, but I haven't read such bullshit in a long time. I bought something for a lot of money that doesn't work the way it should, so it needs to be fixed as quickly as possible. And it's not the only bug. The Amazon Music integration is alpha.
It does not apply if you carefully look into all the threads. There might be something not working 100%, but then again... I, for one, haven't bought the A6 yet. You know why? Because IMO it is not yet ready. You should, possibly, have done the same, instead of complaining on the line "I have spent a lot of money and the thing does not work"... Latins used to say "mea culpa". Cheers.
Of course you should get what you paid for, but you should let the dev squash any bugs before sending out a firmware out in the open. Do you want to brick your A6 and then cry again? People complaining about being lab rat beta or alpha testers but at the same time they can’t even wait a couple of days. Knowing it has a fix is already good news, just wait for it. How many streamers you have with this frequent firmware updates not only for bug fixes but new features every time some of them directly requested by users.
The a6 is not just a streamer. It can play my music in various ways. I have it on a NAS and on an ssd. It has other choices I don't use, so I'm not out of options and that's a lot to say. I use Amazon and that works badly but it's better than in my beginning with the a6, just 4 months ago. It can be a funny thing to wait for the next surprise, as with the VU meters that I really like. Of course, I expect Amazon to work as expected and I'm sure it will.
I bought the dmp-a6 blind as I had no way of testing it first - I was sold on it's all singing and dancing features by reviewers (and the touch screen ) I've now come to realise that virtually all those reviews were based on features and specifications rather than real world day to day use of the software - otherwise some of the negative issues and flaws that owners have faced would have been reported. It's the usual story of early adopters getting buyers regret ... occasionally. For me I love what the dmp-a6 can do and I've now uploaded all my CD collection, covering decades of collecting, and now I'm listening to albums I hadn't listened to since the year dot. To me that's fantastic (yes I could have just put them in the CD player but probably would never have done so) the dmp-a6 is just so convenient. I also love Radio Paradise on the dmp-a6 as an aside. Now to the subject of Amazon Music ... let's be honest the Eversolo implementation is a mess. Using other kit to listen to Amazon Music (in a range of resolutions) just shows that the dmp-a6 just doesn't cut it ... yet. For owners that are paying for Amazon Music Unlimited it's obvious they are not going to be happy. Fortunately I have both Amazon Music Unlimited and Apple Music - and I have to say that even though there isn't a native streaming app for Apple Music the sound quality is really good via the dmp-a6. It maybe more of an issue in the UK and Europe where I suspect Amazon Music has a stronger foothold rather than Apple Music? The USA has always been Apple Music's provider of choice. I don't have either Tidal or Qobuz so can't speak to the experience of users of those platforms. I'm sure not everything is rosy for them either but to disgruntled new owners I just say stick with it ... things are getting better and will continue to get better. As a footnote the A8 has now been announced and will ship towards the end of this month. Better hardware, power supply, DAC chips, etc., etc., at nearly £1900 or whatever the dollar equivalent will be. Putting ever better electronics in the A8 and pushing up the price is the "easy" bit ... but from what I can see functionality is the same with a few improvements like eArc. It will be using the same software as far as I can tell and if they are going to get buyers on board they need to nail things like the Amazon Music implementation.
I think that you nailed it when you mentioned ‘early-adopters’. I confess to being frustrated in the early days and took the view that the A6 should work straight out of the box. In hindsight, I think that this attitude was probably unfair/unreasonable given all the different connectivity, apps, protocols certification etc. I suspect that Zidoo were naive and the marketeers probably got carried away (Roon springs to mind). To Zidoo’s credit though, they’ve stuck with it and I suspect that we’re close to the finish-line now. Ok, it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride, but I still see this as a true disrupter product and, even with the delay with Amazon, genuinely have no regrets.
My opinion. It is unacceptable that customers have been expected to listen to Amazon Music with the Opus codec for more than a week now. In such a case, a bug fix must be rolled out as quickly as possible. For customers who only listen to Amazon Music with the A6, the streamer is definitely unusable. It won't be long before Blusound and Wiim come up with an answer to the Eversolo streamers. With the catastrophic app with many bugs, the poor user interface and the lack of standard functions (Add to Queue, Play next...) it will be very difficult for Eversolo to compete with Blusound, Wiim and other companies.
Have you tried using the Amazon Ap (not native via the Streaming page) via Cast? I’m seeing Ultra HD in the track description, then PCM 192kHz (not that I know what that really means, but I guess bigger is better!) when playing. Unfortunately, all the stream data that used to be visible in Cast is no longer displayed but, to me, it sounds how a UHD stream should. Also, add to queue & play next etc. is available using the Amazon Ap.
Amazon Music App works. But operating the app in the cast window is rather difficult. Hangs up more often. But no problem. The new firmware has fixed the bugs.
Yes, Ultra HD is working on Amazon now, thank you. I just noticed tonight that I don't see an easy way to add a song on Amazon to your library or liked songs playlist through the Eversolo App or from the DMP-A6 screen when playing a song.. In the standard Amazon Music app there is typically a "+" symbol for each song to add it to a playlist if you'd like. Is this something that could be added in the future ? Thanks again.
