Amazon music

Amazon music was bad (in dmp a6) and now is the same. It takes a while to charge and when playing the screen is black. If I gp back and try to enlarge what's playing, black!

 

Amazon locked on me last night. Then when it didn't it took a long time to get to the album I selected. The background screen was like a 75% zoom in of the album cover, spread out over the entire 6" screen. If this keeps up then yeah, I have a huge issue. This device is going backwards for me in a few ways.

 

I would wait and see how Amazon API integrations goes but with the latest app update I am not happy with the outcome. Album art is now tiny square box about one inch by one inch in the middle of the screen. Song and artist names are now not visible by default and pop at the right top corner of the screen only after I tap the screen. There is also no way to see track quality details, everything is overoptimistically reported as PCM 192 KHz...
Checked my other 4 devices with Amazon music app installed - no issues, everything works as it used to.

 

I downloaded/installed the Amazon Music only apk. It seems like there are two different ones for android. That works much better IMHO, file info, lyrics, all I need!

 

I tried to do that but I couldn't find the apk. I used chrome to install but Amazon couldn't find any suitable hardware. Can you give me a link?

I've never done this before. Can you walk me through the process?

I only ask because I have been testing Tidal, Qobuz, and Amazon for streaming, all on their 30 day free trials. I am 90% sure Amazon is the one I want to stick with and pay for. However, using Amazon on the A6 in it's current state of affairs isn't a nice experience. So I'd like to try this to see if it works better. Thank you in advance for your time to help a newbie.

 

Just follow the instructions from @Nice Monkey :

To sideload an app, download the APK (Android version of app installation file) from the link I shared before, then

- Type your DMP-A6 IP address in your browser using port 18888 i.e. 192.168.x.x:18888 and you will see a "Web Install" page where you can easily upload the apk file. Then go to your DMP-A6 and the app will be installed amongst your other apps
OR
- Copy the APK to any folder in your DMP-A6 (you can use a pen drive) and use "Cast Mode" File browser to install it manually by just clicking on it. Then go to your DMP-A6 and the app will be installed amongst your other apps

The whole IP address thing is always lost in me. Where do I type that in?

Pen Drive? Like a USB thumb drive?

I think its because I'm not a huge fan of computers, that I just have mental blocks and don't remember stuff. Makes me feel like an idiot. But I miss the old stereo equipment days with no computers where I could figure things out on my own.

Yes, usb drive if you have one.

If you know the ip of your Dmp-a6 It seems like you can do the webload procedure from you phone. I always do this from a computer but can’t see why not using a phone or tablet/iPad. You download the apk file on your phone, then go to the 192.168.x.x:18888 with your phone browser and upload the apk file

Settings/About of your eversolo

Powered up my A6 today and Amazon music layout is back to what it was before. The app version did not change, no changes on my part.

And the gapless playback is good now, no cut offs at the beginning of tracks

 

I did the web install, I see the Amazon Music.
But when I enter the provided code, it fails.
Yes, I did sign into my account. Any ideas?

 

Try the original Amazon Music app, it seems like it’s working ok now.

 

I was under the impression that the APK version was the "better" one than the built-in app.
Are there differences functionally? Or just different versions?

 

They are different apps, one is Music only, the other one Music and Podcasts. The last one is the one we were experiencing funny behaviours after the fw update. Now it seems to be working properly again. The Music only app was a good alternative in the meantime... You can try it yourself and keep using the one you prefer...
